The Tyranny of Gun Control "'The best thing about The Tyranny of Gun Control' is Jacob Hornberger's skill as a polemicist. Out of 14 essays, he owns five of them, including 'The Nazi Mindset in America' and 'Loving Your Country and Hating Your Government,' an amusing rhapsody on President Clinton's inability to fathom the attitude alluded to in the title. They really are something to behold. I founder myself rereading some of them for pleasure. A few samples: 'What would be President Clinton's position with respect to the War for Independence?... William Jefferson Clinton would have said to Thomas Jefferson: 'There's nothing patriotic about hating your government or pretending you can hate your government but love your country.'" Politically Correct Guns : Please Don't Rob or Kill Me Politically Correct guns is an excellent introduction to the gun control movement. Those who have not chosen sides, as well as those who have, will benefit from this book because it presents material in a humorous, easy-to-understand manner. The position of many different organizations - such as the media - as well as the positions of many individuals is covered. Furthermore, the rationales for those opinions is examined (and made fun of.) The author weighs in on more than just the gun control debate itself; failures of government agencies, policy faults, and the political correctness of Hollywood are also lampooned. A generous helping of cartoons - some taken from newspaper editorial pages, others from noted political cartoonists - help drive the point home. ISBN: 0936783168 |

More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun-Control Laws Multiple regression analyses are rarely the subject of heated public debate or 225-page books for laypeople. But John R. Lott, Jr.'s study in the January 1997 Journal of Legal Studies showing that concealed-carry weapons permits reduced the crime rate set off a firestorm. The updated study, together with illustrative anecdotes and a short description of the political and academic response to the study, as well as responses to the responses, makes up Lott's informative More Guns, Less Crime.
