I
offered to write and post the song ‘Freedom’ to the
FORCES
International website because I deeply believe in their cause. FORCES
and their affiliates are working hard not just to preserve the
individual rights of tobacco smokers, but on a larger scale, to
protect peoples’ right to make their own choices regarding the
environments and circumstances of their lives. The outcomes of these
battles will most assuredly have long standing ramifications in the
areas of personal rights and freedoms.
‘Freedom’ is the dark horse project’s contribution to help illuminate
and gain support for the goals and efforts of Forces International. It
is my hope that whether you like the song or not, it will give pause
for thought on the mission of this noble organization.
It seems we all are gradually being ‘sold out’ by the very people
we’ve elected to look after our interests. Although this problem is
not new, it has reached new levels of the ridiculous – especially
surrounding subjects like tobacco.
If you want the truth, ‘Follow the Money’. Who benefits if smoking is
outlawed? The Forces organization has gone to great lengths to
separate fact from fiction on this issue. Indeed, it is not about
health or humanitarianism; it is about usurping individuals’ rights to
think for themselves.
Years ago my late grandfather, a WWII veteran, emphatically told me,
“They can take EVERYTHING away from you, except what you KNOW”.
History certainly has proven this statement over and over again. So if
they can control smoking, what will be next? Caffeine? Fast food?
Which direction to hang your toilet paper?
It may sound ludicrous, but today some influential people stand to
make big bucks by making me a criminal for smoking. Tomorrow, when
some other party stands to gain, it may be you who are criminalized
for being a ‘junk-food-junkie’ or a cartoon-watching-couch-potato.
Perhaps a threat will be ‘second-hand’ obesity or laziness…
In all seriousness, it can very quickly become about books, religion,
free speech or even the number and sex of children you can have.
Look around: in some places, it already has…
I choose Freedom while I still can.
