Pro-Liberty Rally In Sacramento - SACRAMENTO, MAY 22 - The fight for liberty is always uphill, and the ones who decide to fight on behalf of the many who live in fear of oppression should always be regarded as heros. Irate bar owners paid a visit to the capitol today to protest the Senate's inaction on legislation to overturn the ruinous ban on smoking in all state bars. Organizers of the rally on the front steps of the capitol are demanding that Senator John Burton, Senate Leader, honor his promise to give a fair hearing to legislation written to overturn the ban which went into effect in 1998. The Assembly overwhelmingly voted to overturn the ban.

Antismoking And Advocacy: How To Lie To The Public - And Get Away With It As Heros - Much of our readership has asked us many times why FORCES or some other entity never initiated a lawsuit for false advertising against the government and/or the rest of the antismoking Cartel. "If nobody is suing them, does not that mean that they are telling the truth?". Well, not quite. In this essay, Gian Turci explains and reflects on why there is no legal action for false advertisement against the Cartel in Canada.

Reason -- Not Violence - "Our moral high ground is lost when rage spawns talk of violence and retribution."

Missouri Trial: the Temptations of Totalitarianism - "...A typical example of this deception are the words of Missouri's Attorney General Jay Nixon, leading the lawsuit against cigarette makers in that state: 'This industry is like no other, and no other industry need be worried'. This kind of assurance was commonplace during the consolidation of the European dictatorships in the early part of the century." - By Gian Turci

The Card Sharks - Creating The "Mountain of Evidence" - "...But exactly how many studies can be generated out of few? There is only a finite number of combinations to these base studies, then we are going to run out, right? As an engineer, I love specifics, so I put the question to a mathematician friend: 'If we have 10 base studies, and we combine them in any possible way, how many possible combinations can we have?' " - By Gian Turci.

Soul Searching - "If you care about your dignity, and the future of your children as free thinking beings, then this is the time to fight. But it is important to understand who and what you fight. This is not fighting City Hall. This is fighting a well-rooted and institutionalized corruption that is coated with enough righteousness and false information to justify repression and violence to achieve its ends of looting and control."

Alleluia, My Ass! - "While I understand the visceral desire of many of our friends and readers to see this lie-based fascist law repealed, I am sorry to say that not only I am unimpressed, but I am actually very alarmed by what is unfolding. The California smoking ban repeal is a hoax, and it is the most dangerous event in the escalation of repression in fascist California.
The carrot of a ban repeal is used to get the ass to move while riding it down the cliff."
- By Gian Turci

A Peculiar Kind of Second Hand Smoke - "...As a non-violent citizen -- and a smoking father -- I can only say this: the health officer who is going to walk through my door to take away my children because I smoke may be harmed by a peculiar kind of second hand smoke: the one ejected from the barrels of my shotgun. Beware of the desperation of the common man. Sometimes, even peaceful people have no choice when their back is pushed against the wall. But then, the elimination of choice is what fascism is all about." - By Gian Turci

We Have Delivered Everything We Promised... And More - An end of the year message from Gian Turci, president of FORCES Canada. This has been an intense year for FORCES, but next year has much more in store for us. As the fight becomes more intense, more ways of fighting will be implemented. Unlike the anti-smokers, our side is creative, unpredictable, and fiercely determined not to be subjugated by the health nazis, and their false science.

When the Gravy Train Stops at Reality Station - In the first week of December, 1997, Imperial tobacco announced its withdrawal from the sponsorship of sport, and art events in Canada. Has the tobacco industry made the anti-smoker happy? Of course not. Now the anti-smokers are screaming: "Blackmail! We will not be subject to that!" - Article by Gian Turci

Florida - The disgusting saga continues: More Fine Examples of Anti-Tobacco Ethics from the Antismoking Gangsters - Tim Howard turns stool pigeon: "He knew too much." - FORCES' job is to highlight the unsavory inside agendas of the anti-smoking movement. In the case of the Florida settlement scandal, "the thing speaks for itself." We can only quote Florida Democratic Senator Jim Hargrett's assessment of this disgrace: "The can has been opened. The worms are starting to come out. I don't think you can put the top back on the can."

Florida Feeding Frenzy: Legal Jackals Rip Their Own Flesh in Tobacco Dollar Greed Orgy - Duelling for dollars, the legal beagles of the state tobacco settlement are digging their teeth into one another for generous chunks of a $11.3 billion dollar settlement. Dog eats dog as the feuding lawyers seek to expose each other's corruption in the political arena.

The Logic Of The New Prohibition - (And why the Florida flight attendants trial will be won by the anti-smokers) - We believe that the anti-smokers will prevail in the Florida flight attendants trial (unless, of course they settle first!... It seems to be the trend of these times). Why? Is it because the tobacco companies don't have good enough lawyers? Or, is it because there is real scientific evidence against second hand smoking? Certainly not. Why then? - By Gian Turci and Anne Mac Diarmid

Welcome Back, Students! - Some thoughts about why you should care about these issues

Happy Birthday, Forces Canada! - A message from Gian Turci, president of FORCES Canada, introducing the Organization's New Statement of Purpose

The Hypocrisy Of The Media - EDITORIAL - Here is an example of the hypocrisy of the media. A magazine publishes an article from a former BC minister of health who shows his fascist colors by spouting hatred against tobacco companies, and insulting smokers. The magazine then refuses to publish an article of retort offered by FORCES Canada. But check out the full-color, full back page ad promoting a tobacco sponsored event -- complete with big, bold brand name and positive lifestyle imagery! Clowns.

Radio Talk Shows: Nonsmokers Rights Association Did Not Debate FORCES -- Again! - The NRA refused a debate with FORCES on the issue of smoking during a recent talk show hosted by the Winnipeg radio station CJOB.

British Columbia's Attack on Tobacco Industry is Really an Attack on Smokers - An open letter to Joy McPhail, British Columbia's Minister of Health, criticizing the disgusting attack on the tobacco companies. "Attempting to extort money from a legitimate business -- while taking the largest share of the profit from the product that business is selling -- puts your government well into the category of gangsterism. And gangsters belong in jail, Mrs. McPhail!"

The World Health Organization Attack On Smokers (Reflections On The Smoking Guns) - "In Japan, cigarette packages carry this warning: [Smoking] 'May possibly harm your health, so please be careful not to smoke too much -- and please observe good smoking manners.' To us, this is evidence of balance, and respect for the truth. Perhaps these two gifts -- obviously long lost in our society -- are what have contributed to make Japan a great country, with immense economic power, and an ancient culture. Of course, this balanced attitude about smoking very much displeases the domestic and international anti-smoking activists, who see in Japan a potential beacon of the very intelligence and realism they are so desperately trying to suppress."
