NONSMOKERS RIGHTS ASSOCIATION DID
NOT DEBATE FORCES --- AGAIN!

FORCES Canada spokesperson Gian Turci and Non-smokers' Rights Association spokesperson David Sweanor were invited to go head-to-head on a Winnipeg radio station talk show last week -- but the anti-smoking representative was "unavailable" for the challenge, according to the show's host. Instead, Sweanor taped a statement that was played for his portion of the June 25 edition of CJOB's "Afternoons" show with Larry Updike.

This is the second time that a representative of the organization has not turned out to debate FORCES in a public forum. Several months ago, the Association's Garfield Mahood declined a similar invitation from Toronto's CFRB AM 1010, opting for a pre-recorded statement instead.

Most callers into the "Afternoons" show indicated concern about the power of the antismoking movement, in reactions ranging from scepticism to outrage.

We can only speculate about why the Non-smokers' Rights Association appears unwilling to pit its arguments against ours in a public forum. Our invitation to do so remains open for whenever they decide to take us up on it.
