FINALLY!!!

RJR has started an anti-anti-tobacco cartel advertisement campaign meant to expose the anti-tobacco operatives for what they really are: paternalistic bigots, liars and cheats, fascists and sharks. RJR is fighting the right way, too: at the emotional level, with the same kind of clear, concise messages anti-tobacco is using! Go to hell, tolerance and courtesy, and the hell with civilized dialogue as well. That is out of place in the environment of hate and contempt the cartel has created. Force is the necessary and sufficient means to fight at this stage. Finally, the industry is taking its gloves off and fights with the means and the aggressiveness necessary to put the cartel back into the cesspool it's coming from.

THANK YOU, RJR! We have been waiting for this for a long, long time. This is what most of your customers want in exchange for their purchases. No more settlements, no more hiding. And let's not stop there. LET'S GO GET THEM -- all the way to their prison cell! Canadian tobacco industry, take note. We want to see YOUR ads fighting the hate campaign and the false information of the Ministries of Health, particularly the BC Ministry, which has distinguished itself as a liar and lost scientific and political integrity.
HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO ALLOW PEOPLE WHO BELONG IN JAIL TO BROADCAST THEIR LIES AND HATE ON TELEVISION, AND GO UNCHALLENGED?

THANK YOU, SPAIN! - Common Sense from Spain - and a Clash of Fundamental Values in Evidence - A top health authority in Spain refuses to create a total smoking ban at an international health conference in Madrid. ``We are not going to prosecute people for smoking. In Spain, we believe that smoking is a personal right. This is a free society,'' Simon Vinals said of his refusal to ban smoking in hall ways that he described as well-ventillated ( there was a no-smoking rule for conference rooms). Vinals denied that he had a responsibility to enforce morality. Once again, Europe demonstrates a sense of balance and moral integrity that seems to be totally lost in North America. Out there, being a scientific liar and a political crook clearly is not a requirement to be a health official.
An official of the American-controlled WHO said that the anti-smoking message "apparently has filtered down to Spain as yet." Could it be that the message of freedom and anti-puritanism hasn't filtered DOWN to the United States as yet, and that the moral and scientific corruption of the North American anti-tobacco cartel has not yet infested Spain?

Cartel, Mind Your Business, and We Decide Ours -- Texas Restaurants - HOUSTON, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- A majority of Texas hospitality business owners and managers say they would expect a decline in business if a smoking ban were imposed on the hospitality industry, according to a poll conducted for the Texas Restaurant Association which was released this week at the annual Southwest Foodservice Expo. Hospitality business owners and managers were also overwhelmingly in favor of having managers (61 percent) or customers (24 percent) decide smoking policies for their businesses instead of government (10 percent).

If Past Is Guide, Smoking Crusade Will Fail - " Perhaps nothing is more amusing or more pathetic than adults determined to force adolescents to do their bidding. The defeat of the tobacco bill in Congress and pledges by the Clinton administration to continue to search for ways to 'save our children' from the ravages of tobacco smoke and addiction to nicotine will be about as effective as Prohibition. Today the crusaders are named Bill Clinton, C. Everett Koop and John McCain. More than 90 years ago there were Chicago's Lucy Page Gaston and her Anti-Cigarette League of America. "

I'll Think of Quitting Smoking - When You Give Up Driving - This simple but great article illustrates much of the thinking and emotional response of smokers, though we of course differ from the ususal "filthy addiction" routine: "...my reticence about quitting is an indication of a rather adolescent form of rebellion. The more I'm told to quit, and the more adamant society becomes in its efforts to eliminate smoking, the more determined I am to continue. The recent news reports on non-smokers trying to force the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to eliminate all smoking areas, citing the 'Americans with Disabilities Act' as prohibiting smoking in public buildings where those with asthma or other breathing disorders might be bothered by secondhand smoke, has hardened my resolve to continue lighting up, particularly in public places."

The Voice of a Nazi: "Mr. Deputy Prime Minister, Go Smoke Outside!" - It is an established fact. To sit on the Minister of Health's chair you have to be a Nazi, and a puritanical liar. There seems to be no other explanation for a phenomenon that seems to be common in all the English-speaking world. The NZ Health Minister Tuariki Delamere wants Deputy Prime Minister Peters to stop smoking. Thus, "If Parliament was declared smoke-free, Mr Peters could be forced to smoke outside..." Delamere wants to put political pressure on all MPs: "it [is] important that MPs lead by example in all spheres of life, including being non-smoking role models". Mind your own business, useless prick! Go patronize and lie somewhere else for a living! Fortunately, the Deputy Prime Minister shows signs of intelligence and a good sense of his priorities: "I've got more important issues to be concerned about". Faithful and servile to the US anti-smoking cartel, like his Canadian counterparts, Delamere uses the same anti-smoking rhetoric and false information, obviously scaled down to the population of this country. It is curious that all the dreadful figures about mortality, disease, etc.-etc.-etc., are always an exact fraction (or multiple) of the US ones in direct proportion to the population of the country in question, and regardless of diet, lifestyle, culture, climate, race, etc. ... Isn't that a formidable coincidence?

Smoking in the Movies and the Transformations of Stanton Glantz - The obtuseness of the anti-smoking cartel is well illustrated by this article. The cartel has been attacking Hollywood for depicting smoking in movies since the beginning of this garbage in the early 90s. If we follow this stupid logic, then we must prohibit actors and actresses from having sex on the screen, to address the problems of unwed teenage mothers, AIDS and date-rape. Featured in the article is, among others, Stanton Glantz, mechanical engineer transformed into a professor of medicine, this time transforming himself into an art critic, and condemning (of course) smoking in the movies. Considering his uncanny ability to transform, we recommend that Paramount replaces actor Rene Auberjonois with Stanton Glantz in the role of Star Trek's shape-shifter Odo in a special episode by the title: "The Transformations of the Interstellar Turd". We assure you, Paramount: it's going to be a smash hit!

Thank you Again, Germany, Land of Freedom! - "The German Government yesterday made its pitch for the nicotine addict vote by announcing its intention to challenge the Brussels ban on tobacco advertising at the European Court of Justice. The complaint will be filed in Luxembourg by the beginning of September, weeks before the general election. It is therefore bound to figure in Helmut Kohl's re-election campaign. ... A spokeswoman for the German Economic Ministry said Bonn was arguing that health policy fell under the jurisdiction of member states, and not the European Union. Moreover the ban - welcomed by the British Government earlier this year as a 'giant leap forward in the fight to reduce smoking' - violated freedom of speech and companies' ownership rights on brand name products." - Germany has learned well from its past. Differently from the British government, increasingly servile to American politics, the German government stands up against health nazism and control freaks, to the point that Kohl risks his political career on this issue. We have nothing but admiration for the courage of this man, and his nation. A few months ago, Germany shut down an attempt for a national smoking ban. The German Minister of Health was reported to say: "...Not while I am in this Ministry!" ... Not all ministers of health are lunatic control freaks, after all.

FREEDOM OF CHOICE, INC.: Fighting Anti-Tobacco Criminals With Courage and Determination - The persecution of smokers continues on all fronts, but many finally have decided to fight back. As we stated many times, this is a war for liberty: the killers of choice have declared war on smoking long ago, and besides distorted science, they use intimidation. Inside is a press release that summarizes the fight of Freedom of Choice, Inc., distinguished member of the Smokers' Rights movement, against the health cartel. FORCES has followed for quite some time -- and modestly contributed -- to their admirable fight. Instead of being intimidated by false charges brought forward by the Department of Health of Tooele County, Utah, Freedom of Choice, Inc. has decided to set an example of great valour for all smokers and freedom defenders: the have hired lawyers, and they are going after their enemies. This example should be followed all over North America. As Canadians, we should realize that the state-funded prevarication of the Ministries of Health and their accomplices in the anti-smoking cartel not only can be fought back, but this slime can be made to pay for lying to the taxpaying population. Accountability of the politicians is an old issue in this country, and the Ministries of Health would be a good place to start.

Fighting Fire With Fire (How to avoid jury duty... and make a statement at the same time) - It is high time for smokers to start fighting back, and we have now started in a major way. This is the case of Joy Faulkner, president of FORCES New Zealand, who, when chosen for jury duty, she asked to be excused because her discomfort with a non-smoking environment would impair her ability to fairly judge the case. Smokers have demonstrated the falsity of anti-smoking "science", the absurdity of the anti-smoking "philosophy", and the existence of fair and equitable solutions for the accommodation of both smokers and non-smokers. There is nothing more to prove. The antismoking cartel does not want to listen, thus arguing is futile. The only solution left open is to fight, and disrupt the fabric of society for as much as we are able, in new and creative ways each time. This method is not new, but common to all fights for liberty in all times.

Hurrah for Kahnawake! (or: Grand Chief Joe Norton is no Chretin) - "The Kahnawake band council warned the federal and Quebec governments yesterday it will immediately assert its sovereignty over the South Shore reserve, taking control of highways, railways and waterways, and declaring the community a duty-free zone. Sparked by changes to Quebec tobacco-tax laws announced last week, the band council yesterday issued a sharp reaction that amounts to a unilateral declaration of sovereignty, and a pledge to back it up by taking complete control of Kahnawake territory."

Pull Down Those Disgusting Tobacco Billboards... Put Up These Nice Alcohol ones ... to Protect the Children, of Course! - The antitobacco criminals in California are hard at work to suppress liberty and freedom of choice, while promoting false information to the population. Yet another assault on the first amendment by San Francisco, a city that is rapidly becoming notorious world wide as the most intolerant municipality in North America. The San Francisco Examiner almost says it all but leaves out a most interesting aspect of one man's crusade to eliminate tobacco advertising. Incidentally, Supervisor Gavin Newsom, the bane of tobacco advertising, is a booze peddler. He has a financial stake in making the city safe for alcohol advertising by deflecting attention from the substance that actually does harm children. The cigarette ads have all come down from the billboards only to be replaced by alcohol advertising. A billboard for his upscale wine emporium now graces the busy boulevard that leads to the Golden Gate Bridge. If Newsom, a political appointee, loses his bid to retain his seat on the City Council in the November election he can continue his brilliant career as a shill for the alcohol industry.

Jerry Falwell Jumps on the Unholy Bandwagon - or... anti-tobacco paves the waves the way for a good ol' temperance-and-brimstone revival - The shameful orgy of greed and opportunism in North American politics seems to have no end. Now it is the turn of Jerry Falwell, who supports the take-the-money-and-run attack on American smokers, and wants to up the ante -- to include American drinkers. Falwell said he ``would like to see concurrently equal heat put on the liquor industry, certainly beginning with a user tax. If tobacco is addictive, and it is, then so is alcohol.'' ... ``Unless we're going to come down equally hard on the liquor industry we're playing the hypocrite to beat up on the tobacco industry because they're more vulnerable.''

We, the New Lepers - A fighter in the battle for smokers' rights reflects on the current situation - and his own job dismissal after objecting to a workplace smoking ban: "If you choose to sit idly by, and watch the freedoms of "others" be silently and subversively "stripped" away, who will come to your aid, when the "wolf" is at your door? Suppose "Big Brother" decides to "protect" us all from the evils of: watching television, or going to the movies, or eating meat, or even READING censored material? " - by Thomas K. Hyland, Jr.

The (New) American Way - The consequences of the sick mentality that deflects personal responsibilities onto the suppliers of a potentially harmful product is well-described in this article, where a cab driver wants to sue junk food manufacturers for his fat belly, and cholesterol level. ' "It's the American way," the cabby said. "Didn't you see where some anti-gun people are talking about suing gun-makers because people are shooting each other? Isn't every state in the union suing the tobacco companies because tobacco is making people sick? And they're hauling in serious bucks -- and balancing their budgets, too." ' ... Guess that in today's twisted morals, this is a perfectly acceptable conduct.

Antismoking Do-Gooder Gets His Due - A Maryland man who elevated himself to a moral example by no longer selling tobacco and beer in his store is facing bankruptcy and a life of poverty as a consequence of his decision. "I felt guilty when I sold a pack of cigarettes," he said in an interview last year. "I didn't want to be the cause of any more young people starting to smoke." How touching! Well, now we have one more "I-know-what's-good-for-you" out of the race. Good, maybe he will learn to mind his own business (he really should have!), and not to listen to the lies and propaganda of the anti-tobacco Cartel. Here is an idea, Mr. Mosby: why don't you ask the Cartel for compensation? As concerned as they are with the well-being of everybody, they'll sure run with the money to bail you out!

Canadian Antismoking Cartel On the Tobacco Sponsorship of Sport Events: YOU LOSE! - The Canadian federal government is performing amusing face-saving antics on the question of tobacco sponsorship and arts and sports events in this country. The latest word: the feds will present the anti-smoking brigades with a TOTAL BAN on tobacco company sponsorship. Catch is -- that won't happen for five years, and no changes in sponsorship will be made for the next two years. By the time any of this has any impact, the tobacco prohibitionists of the Clinton administration will be out of office, and so too, quite possibly, the Liberals in Canada. A lot of things can change in five years. The most important thing for Canada's federal government is the knowledge that in five years, this stuff will most likely be someone else's hot potato. This is a BIG LOSS for anti-tobacco, spun so as to appease them.

BAN ON TOBACCO SPONSORSHIPS UNCONSTITUTIONAL: TOBACCO INDUSTRY - "A federal proposal to ban tobacco-company sponsorship of arts and cultural events five years from now will not survive in the courts, a tobacco industry spokeswoman predicted Wednesday. The proposed ban will be targeted in a court challenge the industry has already launched against federal anti-smoking legislation, said Marie-Josee Lapointe of the Canadian Tobacco Manufacturers' Council." (Source: CP, June 3rd, 1998). Ironically, Lapointe's views coincide with those of many exponent of the anti-tobacco Cartel. They believe that the total sponsorship ban, nearly six years away, may never become a reality. Anti-tobacco Groups Screeching

Nicorette at the Races: What Is the Difference? - So, now we have Nicorette racing at the Grand Prix. So strange that the antitobacco Cartel says nothing about this. After all, isn't this peddling drugs to kids? "If we can help people quit, I'm proud to be a part of it," says NicoDerm driver Dennis Vitolo. This is a nice example of the Great Deception: if nicotine is as addictive as they say, then people do not quit, they just switch from one "delivery device" to another, don't they? Well, we certainly know what team we are going to root for the next racing season, and it is not going to be the Nicoderm peddlers, kings of the Grand Prick!

Smokers Nearly Voiceless in Tobacco Tax Debate - The anti-tobacco Cartel has always tried to suppress the voice of smokers, that is, the voice of the ones that are making it possible for both tobacco industry and anti-smoking Cartel to exist. "Last spring, a group of smokers offered to give their 2-cents' worth to a Senate hearing on the proposed tobacco settlement. But a Senate aide dismissed them, saying their testimony would be irrelevant. ... 'It's as if smokers themselves do not exist,' said Wanda Hamilton of Miami, vice president of the Florida Smoker's Rights Association. ... There are a few non-industry-affiliated smoker's rights groups trying to stoke the movement, and there are dozens of pro-smoking Web sites emerging on the Internet. The most prominent independent smoker's-rights group is FORCES (Fight Ordinances and Restrictions to Control and Eliminate Smoking)."
