A WIN FOR FREEDOM OF CHOICE (Added February 21) - Choice won big time in New Hampshire last week when the state legislature, by a margin of two to one, rejected a bill to ban smoking in restaurants.  Anti-choice special interests are facing a tougher road to control businesses and private property these days as politicians are finally realizing that smoking bans have absolutely nothing to do with health.  Ever since the Environment Protection Agency's secondhand smoke report was vacated, the anti-tobacco enterprise and its bought politicians have been hard pressed to offer any rational reason to ban smoking on private property. Voters in all states must note that the New Hampshire anti-choice law was proposed and supported only by Democrats.   Very few anti-smoking laws would be in effect if the jurisdictions involved were not controlled by the so-call party of Choice. A major inaccuracy in the linked report also must be noted.  Although Maine, Vermont and Utah are included in the list of states that have banned smoking in restaurants, only California actually prohibits smoking in all restaurants.  The other states' laws are riddled with exceptions so the residents and visitors to those states are certainly able to find restaurants that do permit smoking. In California, the total ban has been responsible for innumerable restaurants going out of business, cancelled conventions and a huge increase of fast-food and take-out establishments at the expense of sit down dining.

THE BREWING OF WITCHES Added February 29, 2000 - A TOBACCO GIANT BACKS FDA ROLE - No, the header does not contain a typo. Nowadays, witches are not burned. They are slowly brewed. In yet another betrayal against its best and only customers, Philip Morris is now openly kissing asses. PM now accepts in principle the regulation of nicotine by the FDA in what can be the prelude to two possible outcomes: either total prohibition of tobacco, or nationalisation of tobacco production.

In the ambiguous language that has become a character trait of that company, Philip Morris denies that it would surrender to the antitobacco cartel. On the other hand, it is clear that PM, in an attempt to "look good" in the public eye, has given in to the scientific and political frauds pushed forward by the cartel . But in fact, PM is availing fifty years of politicised, biased, and often fraudulent science about the health effects of primary and passive smoking -- fifty years that have failed to produce one single PROOF about the alleged effects of tobacco on health. While some of the antitobacco gangsters are rejoicing, others are cautious -- just in case PM still has some guts left to fight back with. Smokers should simply drop the use of PM products (among them: Marlboro, Virginia Slims, Benson & Hedges, Merit), and shift to other manufacturers.

Need more proof of the total bend-over of PM? Get this: '' PM announced that it will not support California's Proposition 28, the initiative to reverse Proposition 10, the State's $.50 cigarette and OTP tax increase geared to fund "childhood development programs." PM spokesman Tom Ryan said, "[I]t has become less of a smokers' rights issue and more of a question over childcare development and that is not something that we think we should be involved in" '' (PR Newswire 2/22, 2/23, AP 2/23).

Sure. And why should "childhood development programs" be on the shoulders of smokers? Never mind... we hate to agree with the antis -- though proudly for the opposite reasons -- that PM is indeed a contemptible company without any principle and decency. A true mirror of our corrupt times. Keep on smoking -- but not PM products!

VOICES AGAINST THE PSYCHOSIS ON SMOKING AND THE FRAUDS ON PASSIVE SMOKING FROM ISRAEL Added February 28, 2000 - SMOKE WITHOUT FIRE - "One needs only to peruse the matchmaking columns in the newspapers over the past few years to see which way the smoke is blowing. The traditional most-wanted traits - sense of humor, sensitivity, spontaneity and so forth - have been all but supplanted by the demand for a nonsmoking partner. Even without getting into the question of whether an amusing, good-hearted, sympatico type who also sports a pack of cigarettes is a worthier partner than a nasty, insensitive misanthrope whose lungs are nicotine-free, it is perfectly clear that we are up against a public psychosis of truly frightening proportions."

THE FRAUD OF ANTI-TOBACCO EDUCATION Added February 26, 2000 - EVALUATING THE ANTI-TOBACCO CAMPAIGNS OF CALIFORNIA AND MASSACHUSETTS - California began its anti-tobacco campaigns in 1989 after special interests sold a tobacco tax scheme to the voters. The special interests promised the tobacco tax would be a good investement in the state's health by funding the most comprehensive anti-tobacco education programs on earth. The only promise that the special interests kept is that California is indeed saddled with an anti-tobacco education program so comprehensive that the number of people who have been enriched by the tax is staggering. As to improving the state's health, Wanda Hamilton finds a mound of doubletalk designed to extract the maximum amount of money for results that are, to say the least, mixed.

UNCONSTITUTIONAL: - LANDMARK VICTORY AGAINST THE ANTITOBACCO CARTEL IN CANADA Added February 24, 2000 - B.C. SUPREME COURT RULES PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT'S LAWSUIT AGAINST TOBACCO COMPANIES IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL - " The provincial government's lawsuit against tobacco companies can't go ahead because it's based on a provincial law that is unconstitutional, the B.C. Supreme Court has ruled.

Justice Ronald Holmes ruled the reach of the act was extra-territorial and beyond the power given to the province under the Constitution Act.

The Tobacco Damages and Health Care Costs Recovery Act was proclaimed in 1997 and amended last year. It makes it easier for the government to sue cigarette manufacturers to recover the costs of treating smoking-related diseases. However, the tobacco companies countersued, arguing the law is unconstitutional. "

Justice, common sense and due process win -- sometimes. But the rapacious legal actions of a government bordering with gangsterism have been stopped cold, this time. The British Columbia government, endorsing the most fraudulent science ever conceived - a science that "attributes" to tobacco use almost every disease known to man without scientific proof - cannot steal money from smokers and tobacco industry.

After lighting up cigarettes, cigars and pipes at FORCES, we all reminded each other that enthusiasm couldn't make us complacent. The BC government, and many other corrupt governments, is determined to continue in the persecution and over-taxation of smokers, while endorsing junk science to rationalise that persecution. It is therefore important that the fight continues harder than ever, and that the popularisation of the LACK of proof against virtually ANY "tobacco-attributed" disease continues relentlessly, to ensure an antitobacco-free future, unbiased information to the public, and liberty of choice for this and future generations.

ABUSE BY WHOM? KEEP ON FIGHTING, CANADIANS! Added February 24, 2000 - SMOKING BYLAW IGNITES ABUSE - ' Bylaw officers have stopped going into about 30 bars and other businesses in Waterloo Region because of threats and abuse from stubborn smokers.

``There's no sense trying to enforce something in a volatile situation,'' said Brian Hatton, the region's director of environmental health. ``We've run into a number of situations where we were concerned for the safety of our staff.'' '

Finally, Canadian smokers understand that the only way to oppose the annihilation of their RIGHT to smoke is to oppose FORCE to force. Unfortunately, there is no other way, for truth, reason, logic, common sense, invitations to debates... all have failed to achieve peaceful coexistence. Some governments are determined to obliterate smoking and demonise smokers with ANY means necessary, no matter how much those means break the rule of law, civil and human rights, the code of science and the one of diversity and civilisation. There are no dangers in secondhand smoke, thus there is no reason for a ban. Our congratulations and encouragement to the courageous Ontario smokers who have decided that enough is enough, and they have called the increased stake of the state.

SOME PRESS IS WAKING UP TO THE BIG LIE Added February 24, 2000 - TOBACCO INDUSTRY UNFAIRLY IS A TARGET - Finally, the message that FORCES has screamed in its little microphone is getting into the ears of some of the press: antitobacco "science" is mostly a FRAUD! " Perhaps the most destructive aspect of the anti-smoking campaign is how it undermines reverence for the truth. No deceptive claim, it seems, is too grotesque if it's in the service of demonizing tobacco to legitimize plundering the industry. "

LIFESTYLE NAZIS AND WHAT TO DO WITH THEM (added February 16) "As for me, I want to be left alone and here's what I say: If a lifestyle Nazi, politician or not, wants me to stop smoking or eat less, let him personally take the cigarette out of my mouth or the food off my plate. I guarantee you that when the dust settles only one of us will be standing."

The lifestyle Nazi is a pathetic individual who compensates for his inadequacies by persecuting his betters.  North America provides a haven for such creatures but the welcome mat may finally be evaporating.  This feisty article by smoker Walter Williams was prompted by the practice of some Canadian restaurants of refusing service to those whose scent is mysteriously toxic to the hypochondriacs who rule North America.  From perfume and high calories to tobacco and alcohol, the lifestyle Nazi is on an endless quest to stamp out the pleasures we took for granted not all that long ago.

FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS FUND LOCAL POLITICS (added February 9)

The National Cancer Institute is squandering what little credibility it still retains by granting federal tax dollars to a notorious California anti-tobacco operative to interfere with the state's political process.  The NCI is hoping that its dollars will derail a grassroots campaign to reduce taxation. Proposition 28 is a California tax initiative that will roll back a tobacco tax increase that was narrowly passed in 1998.  The NCI grant funds a study that is being used to undermine popular support for Prop. 28.  The collaboration between the recipients of the tobacco tax, a gaggle of special interests, and the National Cancer Institute is a glaring example of the misuse of U.S. taxes to fund the political aspirations and greed of a few individuals who find life on private payrolls far too limiting. Anytime there is an odor of impropriety over at the University of California - San Francisco, one can be sure that Stanton Glantz is at the center of the stench.  Glantz has gained a dubious fame as a shameless manipulator of statistics.  His "studies", cranked out as regularly as bromides on a production line, have one-by-one bit the dust upon close analyses of disinterested experts.  That he can con the federal government to waste the citizens' money is a sad comment on the management of the National Cancer Institute. Since Glantz as scientist is a joke, he may consider taking up comedy writing, judging by some of the gems in the NCI study.   The biggest howler is that Glantz posits a scenario in which the tobacco industry RAISES prices if the tobacco tax is reduced.  Only a man sheltered from economic reality could keep a straight face proposing that inanity.  Unfortunately, since the NCI buys such nonsense, the joke is on all of us. Plumbing the depths, Glantz drills down to the microscopic when he theorizes what effect the tax reduction will have on the health of Californians.  He practically counts the additional cases of acne or hair loss this tax decrease will bring. Although Glantz' study is good for some laughs, what is not amusing is that the National Cancer Institute is giving away the tax dollars of all United States taxpayers to alter the outcome of a political issue where public funding has no place.

SMOKING BAN FAILS IN MAINE (added February 8) - ‘‘What possible chance does that young adult have to succeed with an anti-smoking program if we endorse [smoking in bars]?’’ he asked. ‘‘In some cases, these bars have been taken over by the tobacco companies for advertising purposes.’’

That comment drew the most derision from the audience.

There you have the latest irrational argument to ban smoking.  It didn't go over very well with the citizens of Maine who killed a proposal to ban smoking in bars.  In July of 1998 the Environmental Protection Agency's contention that secondhand smoke poses a hazard to non-smokers was shot down by a federal judge.  In one fell swoop the only remotely legitimate argument that the anti-tobacco crowd possessed was thrown into the toilet. Since then the smoking ban proposals have continued, although at a much slower rate than in the hey days when people still believed in the EPA's report.  The anti-tobacco goons' best argument now is that smoking should be banned from all locations so that smokers will be forced to quit smoking and nonsmokers will not have to view the seductive and glamorous activity. Social engineering suffered a big set back in Maine and is likely to meet strong resistance as people realize that anti-tobacco is never about health; it's about brute power.

A CLOSER LOOK AT McCAIN (added February 5) - ''I have not ever voted for a tax increase. I'm for less government.... I'd put my conservative credentials up against anybody.'' But the impact of his tobacco legislation would have been a painful new tax on smokers, who are more likely to be found near the bottom of the income ladder. And the tobacco and campaign finance bills together would have meant an enormous expansion of government power - exactly the reverse of what McCain claims to want.

The anti-tobacco enterprise scored a major victory when it duped Senator John McCain into authoring and promoting the most un-American piece of legislation in history.  His tobacco bill was a nearly one-half trillion dollar tax increase.  Instead of "less government", McCain's bill would have been an enormous expansion of government, a de facto nationalization of an American Industry and a trampling of the First Amendment. Of all the shabby tricks perpetrated by the anti-tobacco special interests, none are more dismaying than scripting McCain's arguments for the passage of his bill.  Many Americans were horrified when McCain, a man who endured six years of Vietnamese captivity with an admirable stoicism, parroted the anti-smokers line that over 3,000 kids start smoking every day.  His demagoguery continued even after it was revealed that this statistic was pulled from a study of 21-year olds, a group of adults that can hardly be labeled as "kids". Fortunately for America, McCains tobacco bill met the death it so richly deserved.  In its place we now have the McCain-like tobacco settlement, an extra-legislative boondoggle of not-quite-so-massive taxation, blatant trial-lawyer pandering and merely the quasi-nationalization of the tobacco industry. Senator McCain blew his chance to prove that he "not ever voted for a tax increase" or that he is "for less government".  Even worse he gave the back of his hand to 60 million Americans whose lives are much harder due to his alliance with the gaggle of thieves who shrewdly used his good name for their economic advantage.

SMOKING BAN CAUSES ECONOMIC DISASTER IN NORTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA: APPARENTLY, REBELLIONS ARE IN PROGRESS Added February 18, 2000 - PUB OWNERS LAY OFF STAFF, GO IT ALONE - The antitobacco cartel-run government of British Columbia, Canada is setting up an example of what schizophrenic health fanaticism can do to business. Pubs are dramatically reducing stall, laying off many workers. Owners are afraid to go out of business, as 70% of their clientele smokes. Smokers, rightfully, stay home. Non-smokers can have empty pubs all for themselves but for a short time, for they will go out of business.

There was protest in Prince George yesterday. Apparently, a large group of protesters went to the WCB offices and when they got inside, they all lit up cigarettes and smoked like crazy. It appears that the the mass media hasn't reported this one, for the regime wants to project the impression that the smoking ban is successful.

The WCB fascist hierarchy of the branch said that if it happens again, the cops would be called. Let us hope that desperation, if not love for liberty and truth, continues to drive the protest. The health cartel does not care if families are ruined and people lose their jobs. Like automatons programmed to lie and oppress, they must continue their suppression of liberty no matter the cost. Only the force of equal determination can create the political impasse needed to bring the antismoking fascists to a halt. Smokers, stay home, and do what most smokers do best to defend their rights: nothing. This time, at least, you are having an effect!

FROM CANADA, HERE IS THE CRANIOLOGY OF THE 21st CENTURY Added February 18, 2000 - CANADIAN STUDY FINDS TIE BETWEEN BOOZE, SMOKES - Here is the latest piece of junk science to date, once again based on a lot of rats -- and speculations. The direct experience of many drug/alcohol counsellors does not indicate that smoking and alcohol, or smoking and drugs are interrelated. The fact is, humans are not rats although, observing antitobacco governments and organisations, one begins to wonder.

This "study" may be in support of another crooked branch of antitobacco junk science: the gateway theory, which means to demonstrate that tobacco use leads to drugs, and/or alcoholism. The gateway theory has the same scientific foundations of craniology (phrenology) -- the laughable "science" straddling the 19th and 20th century. Craniology meant to "demonstrate" that the shape and the size of the head was a direct function of the intelligence of the individual: the greater the intelligence, the bigger the head! It was also used to infer the inferiority of blacks, since it was claimed that blacks' head-to-body mass ratio was smaller than the one of whites.

As we enter the 21st century, we are the sad spectators of "scientific" and social regression into political, nearly superstitious speculations where prejudice and pocket book, instead of reason and causality, drive "scientific" thought that has become nothing but the servant of a degenerated political and cultural establishment.

So, this is what means to be "progressive" and smoke-free -- eh?

ANOTHER DEFEAT FOR THE ANTITOBACCO CARTEL, AND A VICTORY FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH Added February 17, 2000 - FEDERAL COURT RULES MASS. TOBACCO AD REGS DO NOT APPLY TO INTERNET - Judge says imposing regulations on national publications or Internet would impermissibly burden interstate commerce - ' "This Court holds that cigar advertisements in magazines or other print media that are truly national in distribution need not include the Massachusetts Warnings." '

' The court extended its reasoning to Internet advertising. "The Internet poses a similar issue by virtue of the fact that Internet-based advertising is targeted at no state in particular, but at all states in general," the court stated.'

What tricks will the anti-tobacco Mafia use to go around a federal judge this time? It seems that ignoring federal judge decisions has become the favourite sport of the antismoking state, in the face of the rule of law. This has been the case of Federal judge Osteen, when he ruled that the EPA used corrupt science to classify ETS as a class A carcinogen, and vacated the classification. That decision, as well as the overwhelming lack of evidence about the dangers of passive smoking, did not slow down the antismoking cartel a bit. Actually, since then prohibition became more rampant than ever.

What is the use of having science and courts when we respect neither? The answer is simple. Totalitarian and Mafia-style regimes use and respect court decisions only when they serve to legitimise their purposes. When that does not happen, technicalities are used to ignore both courts and science, while those judges and scientists who dare to disagree are labelled, and often punished in a variety of ways. Strange things happen in the Land of the Free, and in its satellite countries.

JAMES LEAVEY APPOINTED
MEDIA CO-ORDINATOR FOR FORCES INTERNATIONAL

Added February 16, 2000

FORCES International is pleased to announce the recent appointment of British journalist James Leavey as its media co-ordinator. James handles all press enquiries, including requests for interviews, information, photos/images, and advertising. He lives and works in London, England, where e-mail enquiries should be sent to jamesleavey@bigfoot.com.

As well as being a major contributor (on the lighter side of smoking - see his selection of articles under 'columnist') to FORCES International over the last two years, James is the editor of The FOREST Guide to Smoking in London and The FOREST Smokers' Guide to Scotland - the world's first two travel books for smokers, both available on the Net.

James is also a regular contributor to Cigar Style magazine, Classic Cigar magazine, Heathrow International Traveller magazine, among others, and writes/edits JJ Fox's occasional cigar newsletter, The Humidor, which can be seen online at www.jjfox.co.uk

ANTISMOKING PORNOGRAPHY PULLED OFF THE AIR OVER TASTE: WHAT ABOUT SCIENTIFIC FRAUD AND HATE SPEECH? Added February 16, 2000 - ANTI-SMOKING ADS PULLED OVER TASTE - Hate-mongering antitobacco pornography has been pulled off the air after complaints from the tobacco industry.

Anti-tobacco propagandist Matthew Myers, head of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, said, even after the withdrawal of the ads, that the Legacy anti-smoking campaign still "is hard-hitting'' and it bears watching whether the foundation will continue in that direction. "Hopefully this is a one-time incident in which the tobacco companies demonstrate that they haven't really changed by threatening the foundation whenever it produces hard-hitting ads that put the tobacco industry in a bad light,'' he said.

The pornographic ads, designed to instigate hatred of smokers especially by minors, are divulging medical frauds and half-truths concerning the unproven health effects of smoking. The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids receives heavy money for divulging information that is as stomach-turning as it is unsubstantiated. Nevertheless, like the rest of the cartel TFK is intolerant of opposition and it has even the face to take paternalistic tones towards its intended victims.

Not only was American Legacy Foundation rebuffed by the tobacco industry for breaking its part of the agreement in the Master Settlement Agreement pact which funds it, but by AG Easley, who helped broker the settlement, and by many of the national TV networks which wouldn't accept the ads because of their bad taste.

Also please notice that Matt Myers' boss sits on the board of the American Legacy Foundation. Matt Myers' boss is Steve Schroeder, CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which supplied the big bucks for the founding and operation of Tobacco-Free Kids. So while the board of ALF votes to rescind the ads (for now), one of the board member's attack dog gets print for savaging the tobacco industry just as much as the ads did.

If this mafioso behaviour would occur in any other corporation, there would be immediate outcry, and talk of racketeering. But not when the antitobacco cartel is involved. Unfortunately, a bent-over tobacco industry has signed a deal that allows the cartel to stigmatise smokers in the same way Jews were stigmatised in Nazi Germany, using corrupt science to justify its actions.

IN VIEW OF RECENT EXPOSURE OF STUDIES MANIPULATIONS ON PASSIVE SMOKING AND LUNG CANCER, ANTI-TOBACCO CARTEL OPERATIVES DIVERT TO HEART DISEASE Added February 14, 2000 - Electronic responses to: Reanalysis of epidemiological evidence on lung cancer and passive smoking - The study published by BMJ showing once again the statistical manipulations about secondhand smoke (scroll down) has been commented by the operatives of the antitobacco cartel, but in a very low key. The cartel tries to minimise the damage. "My reaction to this paper is a big yawn," says Stanton Glantz, the man who has been exposed several times for, shall we say, "creatively interpreting" evidence on smoking.

Protected by an establishment that is endorsing systematic scientific and political frauds on the health effects of smoking, good old Stanton knows quite well that, no matter what, the fascist antitobacco agenda will continue in the face of any evidence of corruption. However, it is interesting that all of a sudden, lung cancer takes a second place to heart disease: "The real killer from secondhand smoke is heart disease, not lung cancer. Heart disease kills about 10 times more people than lung cancer. And not even the tobacco industry has contested the evidence on asthma."

Sorry Glantz, your diversions simply don't cut it. Firstly, the fact that heart disease kills more than lung cancer does not have anything to do with ETS causing either. Nice try. Second, the tobacco industry has bent over, and it will sing any tune the cartel imposes, the asthma song included. Curious how "even the tobacco industry" becomes credible when it serves your agenda of lies, Stanny boy!

Unpublished studies or not, relative risks like the ones described by Glantz are ridiculously small, and the quantification of such small risks can be affected by an immense variety and combination of concauses and even involuntary bias. Glantz knows that better than anyone else, and we leave the conclusions about honesty and integrity to the reader. About Hirschhorn, the presence of "nitrosamine metabolites (how much?) after HEAVY (how heavy?) exposure to ETS" does not mean that any dangerous treshold is reached. Ah, we forgot the "no exposure is safe exposure" BS. What is the risk from the exposure to vehicular exhaust fumes? The antitobacco cartel is not interested. It gets no cashola out of that. Wrong end of the telescope indeed, Mr. Hirschhorn! Getting people to look through the wrong end of the telescope is what the cartel does when it wants to make the gargantuan frauds on ETS appear small and remote.

SMOKERS ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS PIECE. BIGOTS ARE GOING TO HATE IT Added February 13, 2000 - I AM A SMOKER -- I HATE YOU, TOO - "I smoke because every patriarchal society needs a scapegoat. ... Because persecution makes a tribe scrappy, resourceful and smart. Because there's a (surprise) epiphany in every pack. Because nothing is truly worthwhile that is not worth dying for. Because I'd rather crave nicotine than fascism."

"I smoke because I adore being lectured. Because we owe it to the Indians. Because cigarettes keep me company without getting on my nerves. Because half the point of having a vice is pissing off the virtuous."

THE EXPOSURE OF JUNK SCIENCE ON ETS CONTINUES Added February 13, 2000 - BRITISH REPORT SAYS RISK FROM PASSIVE SMOKING OVERSTATED - London - The British press is reporting that estimates on exposure to secondhand smoke turn out to have been exaggetated (see below). The Italian media have also reported the news extensively on February 11th.

So far, no study ever performed on passive smoking (about 40) except a minor one have shown any serious risk, but the anti-tobacco cartel and it major mouthpiece, the WHO, continue to lie about secondhand smoke dangers. Click here to see all the studies ever performed on secondhand smoking

"The Warwick University specialists estimated that some 23 earlier studies that did not link passive smoking with lung cancer may have been ignored. Researchers often average all previous findings, but the overall picture may be distorted because some reports with negative findings have not been written up in journals."

Perhaps antismoking should be added in all synonym dictionaries next to the word corruption.

THE CASTLE OF FRAUDS ON PASSIVE SMOKING TAKES ANOTHER HIT Added February 12, 2000 - REANALYSIS OF EPIDEMIOLOGICAL EVIDENCE ON LUNG CANCER AND PASSIVE SMOKING - "A systematic review of epidemiological studies on passive smoking estimated the increased risk of lung cancer as 24%."

"There is clear evidence of publication bias in these studies."

"Reanalysis of the data allowing for the possibility of publication bias substantially lowers the estimate of relative risk."

... Thank you very much. What about systematically investigating straight forward corruption? What was the involvement of the pharmaceutical industry in those studies? Were people linked to the antismoking cartel involved in the research? Who paid for those studies? Were there grants involved? If so, what were the conditions of the grants, and how those conditions were formulated in the contracts? Were there political pressures exerted on the researchers during the studies? Were the data collectors part of antismoking coalitions, or influenced in any way to round raw data figures "to excess?"

Those are all interesting questions, and we would not risk much in betting that a thorough investigation would answer yes to most - if not all - of those questions. From recent news reported in this page, it seems that the rampant corruption of the antitobacco cartel is showing up more and more. How long will people and political forces stay indifferent to the overwhelming evidence about the corruption of "overwhelming evidence?"
