MOTHERS vs THE STATEThe crack is the war on smoking; the wedges are law and junk science. The medium is propaganda. This social devastation is still not recognized by many. Here is the Editorial. For other articles by Tom Oyler, click here and here March, 1999 Thank God my mother is in heaven. If she were not then most assuredly she would be in jail for disturbing the peace. Why? She would be really upset about the recent rash of studies disparaging motherhood. Is March National Dump on Mothers Month? In novel American and Swedish studies it has been suggested, subtly, that mothers are not really necessary. Children are raised just as well in day care centers, preferably state operated. "In comparison with children of mothers who did not work there was no statistically significant difference in any of the measures. " "In Sweden, where good day care for children is readily available, studies have shown that kids who go to day care and kids who spend their early years with their mothers do equally well." "In the U.S., researchers are finding that kids who start full-time day care as infants have problems only if the quality of their care is poor and if there is family stress." The studies go on to say that being at home during the early years, or being employed during those years, are both good choices. Both can result in healthy, well-developed children. Short version - Mothers or parents are not necessary for rearing the young. The state can do just as good as job. Another "ANTI" mother study tells us that, "babies whose mothers smoke during pregnancy could be at a higher risk of growing up to be criminals". What a crock. Who pays to have this junk published? No study on any subject has ever proven true that which the study implies is true. Studies are not science. They cannot be duplicated and to prove any significance would require, at a minimum, 5 million subjects. Studies are usually paid for with tax dollars. Yep, you pay for them. The people behind the studies are not the noble among us they do them for money, lots of it. In other words studies are nothing more than paid for political ideas. The target of these studies is not working mothers or those who smoke. The purpose of these studies is not alleviating the feelings of guilt that most working mothers might have or imparting some kind of guilt on mothers who smoke. Mothers are mothers and they do what has to be done. Mothers are like that, yeah they are. If you have to work outside the home so be it. If you smoke so be it. The target is motherhood. The purpose is to convince us that the state is more responsible, more caring, and better equipped to take care of our children, "It Takes a Village". Each of our mothers is different and gladly so, but our know-it-alls in government think all mothers should be the same. We can't have moms at home teaching their children something not sanctioned by the state. And of course we can't have women who might chose to smoke producing potential criminals, they just don't how to raise children properly. Have I gone off the deep end, I hope not? There are and have been numerous pieces of legislation proposed and passed that seek to control our lives, our children's lives, and the whole fabric of our society. Get involved in politics and find out what is going on. If you are a mother who works outside the home find out what is being taught to your child in these state sponsored day care centers. If you are a mother who smokes you should notify the police and have your children marked as potential criminals, PC's. If you are a stay at home mom and smoke then the government will soon find a place for you, probably jail. The people in Washington have added a new level to Maslow's hierarchy, godliness. They are no longer content with controlling our money they want to control every aspect of our lives. It's your choice. Sit on your fannies or get involved and stop this horse hockey. What about adults whose mothers stayed at home or who had mothers that smoked? Notify the police if your mother smoked so that you can be properly ID'd, perhaps a tattoo. This will ensure that you can be readily distinguished from Pure Americans. I have chosen my number, PC000000001X. Really I didn't know that I was a PC, potential criminal. I hope that I have not tainted those I have come in contact with over the years. I further hope that I have not ruined anyone's chances to advance in the Pure American Society. If your mother was at home during your formative years fear not the government has provided for your training and indoctrination. Goal 8 of the Goals 2000 Educate America Act passed in 1994 insures that if your mother did not impart proper training then the government will. If you are a now a parent you will be required to participate in Government programs on parenting. This is no joke. I am not making this stuff up. The people that fabricate and produce these studies are liars, thieves, cheats, and cowards. We have been manipulated into condemning those who support the second amendment. We have been manipulated into scorning those who smoke. We have been manipulated into ridiculing those who are fat. We have been manipulated into taunting those who believe life is sacred. The list of false suppositions we have been guided into goes on and on. And now we are being manipulated into mocking mothers. Studies are weapons that each of us uses to find fault with others and to elevate ourselves. Studies have no validity. None of the stuff we are being told today was true 25 years ago. It is not true today. "When we lose the right to be different we lose freedom." We should be fighting for each other not against one another. Every freedom we thought we had is being attacked. And all the while there is a group of people, primarily in our government, sitting back laughing while we fight amongst ourselves. And while we fight this government bunch taxes this group or takes a freedom from some other group. Where is the outrage? "There can be no justice until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are affected." BF
