THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE~ OUR SALVATION
Carol Jensen

There’s been much talk in the past in regard to supporting Third Party Candidates and casting your vote accordingly; firstly because they stand for what you believe, secondly, the additional benefit of being able to send your message to the “Powers-To-Be” that you are totally dissatisfied with our government.  That’s very admirable, but let’s analyze the situation and consequences of this justifiable action.

Remember the day you found out that it didn’t matter what you wanted to do in any particular class assignment; what mattered was doing what your teacher wanted, even though you knew she was way off base and thought she must be rowing with one oar.  You learned, I’m sure, to do what was necessary to get good grades or you failed because teach ruled.  These Elections present the same situation.  No, you never get away from it, not if you want to win.  It’s still a matter of giving up the battle to win the war.  And you know, that’s what we’ve got here: a war.  So here it is:

FACTS:

1 A Third Party Candidate, I’m sorry to say, will not be elected President in 2000.
2  Elections are decided by as little as 2-3% of the votes.
3  We only have 2 choices: Bush or that other guy (Gore.)

QUESTION:

Which one would you vote for?…………………Done? …..I know you didn’t vote for Gore.

OUR SALVATION:

Get Bush into the office of the Presidency.  It may just happen anyway, but we cannot assume.  We’ve got too much at stake here.  We’ve got to make every vote count as though our lives depend on it.  It is certain that our happiness and well-being are dependent upon the outcome.  And you might well say our lives depend on it, we certainly have no life as things stand now.

LOGIC:

Taking your schoolteacher’s authority and the three facts above into consideration, it is easy to see what we must do to get some relief from the degradation we’ve all been forced to endure over the past long years.  If you vote for a Third Party Candidate, you have voted for Gore, simply because you’ve taken that vote away from Bush.  We need that vote for Bush.

Gore wants to add yet another tax to cigarettes.
Bush does not.

Gore will continue the Federal suit against the tobacco industry (and smokers).
Bush will terminate the suit.

Gore uses tobacco as a wedge to divide people.
Bush will open the White House to all people.

Gore is in the pocket of the Trial Lawyers.
Bush is the Trial Lawyers' worst nightmare.

REMEMBER:

A vote for a Third Party Candidate, is a vote for Al Gore.  If Gore is elected, we’re in for more of the same, but worse.  And probably for 8 years.  Please don’t do that.
