Twenty years ago, another Big Lie was successful in North America: the energy crisis. While a huge number of overloaded super-tankers were parked outside the territorial waters of almost every country, including the US; President Jimmy Carter was fooling the Americans into thinking that there was no oil, and that America would be out of energy "within 20 years".

The scapegoats then were the safe, full-size, all-American cars, and "energy-inefficient buildings." 20 Years later, cars are more numerous than ever, gasoline is plenty and it has never been so cheap, cars look like toys and cost much more, oil companies are much richer, buildings stinks, asthma is rampant, the energy crisis is NOT HERE, cleaner energy sources have not been implemented, emissions are wild. And the politicians who fooled the world and America at the time are now out of office, enjoy hefty state pensions, and join the new anti-tobacco Big Lie like Jimmy Carter does. Where is personal accountability? It simply does not exist for those who rule our lives.

The big frenzy about sealing houses and buildings like sardine cans comes to mind. Those waving reason and truth about the terrible health consequences resulting from the degradation of indoor air quality were simply dismissed, and went totally unheard by the irresponsible politicians and popular hysteria of the time, while children were contitioned to "save energy". ...Sounds familiar?

Even an imbecile could grasp the concept that if an 8-foot high room is sealed, the air quality is going to be garbage. And anybody could grasp the concept that if ventilation is reduced, the air quality is going to get even worse, whether you smoke in that room or not.

While it's clear that secondhand smoke is not harmful, ETS works as a "marker" for bad ventilation: it "highlights" it. But the "Greens," with Hillary and Billy at their head, together with the anti-tobacco cartel, simply start an antismoking campaign based on junk science, while initiating another campaign to FURTHER degrade indoor ventilation in order to reduce carbon dioxide production, waving the UNPROVEN global warming theory as a reason. At the same time they talk about addressing the asthma problem -- and they keep missing the target.

It is more than a coincidence that the steep increase in the number of asthma cases started exactly when houses and public institutions got sealed like spaceships.

How come indoor ventilation does not seem to be such a problem in Europe, where 12-foot ceilings are mandatory, and people have the good habit to simply open the windows several times a day -- whether they smoke or not?

The solution for most of the ventilation "problem" is as simple as this: make 12-foot ceilings mandatory in all new buildings, teach people to open the window once in a while -- and leave the rights of smokers alone!
