WHO seeks agreement on treaty

to CONTROL tobacco

(Reported in the Globe and Mail Newspaper, 21 October 1998)

Citing the usual 'doom and gloom' statistics on how most of us are going to die from using the product, these self-appointed custodians of our bodies have finally come out with what they really want.

"Tobacco control cannot succeed solely through the efforts of individual governments," said WHO Director-General Gro Harlem Bruntland (a former Prime Minister of Norway), "We need an international response to an international problem." The 'convention' will take several years to draft; it's the first time WHO has used this method. Of course this must be an international problem, otherwise how does WHO justify their existence? This is the group that hasn't made much of a dent on illegal hard-core drug use and now wants to criminalize a legal product, stopping just short of prohibition.

Eric LeGresley, lawyer-Non-Smokers' Rights Assoc., and Rob Cunningham of the Canadian Cancer Society will be working on this 'initiative'.

Tobacco companies will not be involved "as long as they are still in cover-up mode". Well, at least we know that WHO isn't covering up their intent any longer. Now that the fraud on the horrifying dangers of secondhand smoke has been exposed, it seems this organization's true objective is also out front -CONTROL.

Needless to say, the people who use the product won't be consulted either since anti-smoking groups are busy convincing everyone that we're 'just poor addicts'. It can never be admitted that smokers actually enjoy using tobacco; the pleasure and satisfaction outweigh the risks. Praying to the 'health god' it seems is going to be mandatory. Robotized life-style lurks just around the corner! Choice of legal pleasure verboten, unless approved by the new rulers.

This group has been smoked out - social engineering is spelled C O N T R O L.
