Note: FORCES DOES NOT underestimate the value of physical health, and in no way seeks to deter those with this priority from following all expert guidelines available to achieve physical longevity. We DO emphasize individual discretion in exercising informed choice(s) . Informed choice is not a once-sided campaign dedicated to achieving 'validation' of an idea; a truly informed choice is a decision by the person living the life given to them, fully recognizing ALL the risks/pleasures attendant to it.

The TRUTH about the ‘dangers’ of secondhand smoke

We at Forces have put this document on the Internet because what it contains is something the media in Canada does not tell you, and the government won't. This is information you certainly will not get in ‘health education’ classes at school.

What you are NOT being told can be very harmful to your mental health, and to society at large. A misinformation campaign calculated to ‘save’ everyone from smoking has been in existence for some time. Those conducting it assume that you aren’t smart enough to check out what they are telling you, and will believe anything they say.

You are going to be made to feel guilty about smoking because it ‘harms’ other people. "Belief in dangers of secondhand smoke deters teen smoking, study finds"
"Teenage smokers are more likely to quit because they are concerned about hurting others from secondhand smoke than because they fear for their own health, according to results of a survey published in the journal Pediatrics."
Press Release, University of California, San Francisco - 4 December 2000.

Note particularly that it is only necessary for you to ‘believe’ there are dangers, not that there actually are any.

The truth about anti-smoking activists, past and present

I am a parent of two 11 year old twins. I became angry about what is going on when they came home from school saying, "I hate Daddy. Daddy's trying to kill us with secondhand smoke." When you become parents you will understand how dirty and hateful, not to mention untrue, that statement is.
At the time, I didn’t have access to the Internet, so I went to the library to research the topic. It was like everything else about the unending propaganda barrage you are all subjected to on this issue - complete garbage. There has never been a single documented case in 400 years of anybody's health being hurt by secondhand smoke. We have no shortage of EVIDENCE to back that up.

We at Forces are not trying to encourage any of you to smoke, but we want the kids of Canada to know how they are being used as pawns, and manipulated for ‘their own good’.

What started out as a well intentioned health information measure has turned into a huge anti-smoking industry. It’s what is known as job creation; people make their living at harrassing those whose legal choice to smoke is not politically correct these days.

Most smokers are middle-class working people, not part of the rich elite. That's why Canada gets away with the taxes, the restrictions on indoor smoking, the propaganda campaigns - what we at Forces call "The Politics of Punishment". That is a nice way of saying Fascism, a Fascism that began with Adolf Hitler's anti-smoking crusade in Nazi Germany

I tell my kids, "smoking, drinking, gambling, drugs, are all bad for you. I hope you never touch any of them. BUT the only thing worse than smoking, drinking, drugs, and gambling is a bunch of pain in the ass do-gooders telling everybody how to live and punishing those who don't share their vision of how life should be lived. That is far worse than having a cigarette - having to live under the dictates of ideological zealots who recognize no choices other than the ones they themselves bestow.

You are the most educated generation in history. You have also been fed more nonstop propaganda than any generation in history on the smoking question, and yet you smoke more than any other generation did at your age.

It‘s only those of us who grew up during the sixties (including myself) who smoke more than North American teens. You are also the most computer literate generation in human recorded history; go to our evidence archive - and figure out the truth for yourselves.

My kids once asked me, "Who was the biggest monster who ever lived?" I answered, “Hitler”. Then they asked, "Was Hitler an anti-smoking nut?" I can assure the kids of Canada that when it came to smoking, Hitler was a real 90's kind of guy. Before getting involved with FORCES, I was a graduate student in German history. Hitler's anti-smoking campaign is virtually indistinguishable from modern Canada’s attempt at eliminating the use of tobacco. This is a dirty little secret the kids of Canada are not supposed to know.

Penn State historian Robert Proctor wrote in the Nazi War Against Cancer, "Armed with requisite scientific expertise and political power, Nazi authorities moved to limit smoking through a combination of propoganda, public relations and official decrees. The Ministry of Science and Education ordered elementary schools to discuss the dangers of tobacco, published pamphlets warning young people not to smoke... A Bureau against the hazards of Alcohol and Tobacco was established in 1939... activists called for increased cigarette taxes, advertising bans, and bans on unsupervised vending machines and tobacco sales to youth and to women in their child bearing years. Activists called for bans on smoking while driving, for an end to smoking in the workplace, and for the establishment of tobacco counseling centers.”

These tactics didn’t work in Nazi Germany any more than they will today. The only generation who smoked more than North American teenagers in the 1960s, were German teenagers in the 1930s. Do yourself a favour and see for yourself how you are being manipulated, the same as those teenagers were decades ago.

Smoking was banned everywhere, just like modern Canada. The idea that its OK to throw bleeding people strapped to a wheelchair out in minus 50 degree weather for a cigarette did not originate in Canada. Hitler did it first in the name of a “Secure and Sanitary Utopia." It was all done for "a smokefree Germany" then, as it’s being done for a “smokefree Canada” now.

When the anti-smoking groups tell you about the harm of secondhand smoke, or feed you a bunch of lies you know in your heart are not true, remember Hitler's gang (all hung as war criminals at Nuremberg) told a bunch of German teenagers the same lies.

One of my 11 year olds said to me, "Dad, we know we're not supposed to smoke. You don't have to tell us that 500 times because if you tell a kid not to do something 500 times, guess what we're going to do?”

You are going to have to educate yourself on this issue, because you will not get anything more than one side of the story from the people in charge of 'educating' you today.
