TOBACCO NEWS FROM CANADA Comments by Warren Klass President, FORCES - Canada Once again Forces Canada is proud to showcase the correspondence from Canadians in a special Voice of the People dateline. Both correspondents, Mrs. Linda Dugay from Allenford, Ontario and Mr. Rob Anderson from Edmonton, Alberta have chosen to allow their names to be publicized. If you feel that you have a statement to make to your fellow Canadians, send me a brief e-mail at warren.klass@3web.net or wklass44@yahoo.com .No attachments please. I will not include names unless otherwise requested, but include your city and province. Dateline - London, Ontario
“Citizens for Civil Liberties (2CL), a non-profit civil liberties organization, today called for legislation preventing employer intrusions into the private lives of their employees. The group is appalled that a few American employees have announced their refusal to hire smokers, citing the sentiment that smokers are less productive or have greater health costs and believe Canadians share this repulsion and concern. In response to public outrage against employers dictating outside-of work conduct based on a presumed health status that is unrelated to work performance, twenty-nine American states have enacted laws preventing discrimination against job applicants or employees based on their off-duty enjoyment of lawful products. “We were shocked when the Canadian Cancer Society-an organization that pleaded for equal opportunities for once ostracized cancer victims brought this doctrine to Canada” said 2CL spokesperson Michelle Gervais. “Smokers have made significant historical contributions to all aspects of mankind in culture, science, medicine, technology and industry. Huge potential contributions would be lost to employers who refuse to hire smokers.” The group believes this newest attack on smokers has been deliberately fostered as part of an anti-smoking campaign of “de-normalization”-a social engineering technique ruthlessly contrived to make smoking, and smokers objectionable. Ontario Minister of Health and Long Term Care George Smitherman has acknowledged his governments embrace of this mean spirited strategy in his presentation to a 2004 Ontario Tobacco Control Conference. “Right now we live in a society where popular culture still glamorizes smoking. Its still seen as rebellious, sexy, exotic. That’s tough to change-but we have to. Our challenge is to change the way people think about tobacco use. We have to ‘denormalize’it.” Gervais blames huge government handouts that support research designed to provide “excuses” needed to actively penalize smokers with economic sanctions, such as becoming unemployable, for contributing to the problem. According to a May 20th report by CBC Health Reporter Pauline Dakin, Dr.Lew Pliamm, Director of Toronto’s Quit Clinic believes punishing smokers is justifiable.” If they know that they won’t be able to progress in life, to get where they want to because of their smoking, this gives them one added benefit in quitting…” 2CL believes the use and acceptance of de-normalization techniques is abhorrent and will ultimately have devastating effects on everyone who might place a load on the health care system, from children playing sports to those carrying a few extra pounds, and not just those who enjoy the legal use of tobacco products. The group is calling on governments to protect Canadian civil liberties through immediate legislation preventing employer intrusions into the private lives of their employees.” Dateline - Allenford, Ontario. Even in a week in Canada where political events crowded out most other news, there is a ton of tobacco news to report from Canada, most unfortunately is very depressing. The tobacco news in this country is not a mutually exclusive category divorced from the political news. The punditocracy of Canada labels what has gone on politically this past week as a soap-opera although it’s sort of trite to portray Paul Martin as J.R. Ewing, or Belinda Stronach as an afternoon soap opera character- the proverbial Blonde Bitch From Hell. The Liberal Party, and its loudmouth contingent of finishing school broads have denounced Conservatives for calling Belinda a:”whore”,”a dipstick”, and a “prostitute.” But the Conservatives were being too gentlemanly in describing Belinda’s stunt. A much better characterization would be a four-letter word that rhymes with stunt. For American readers of Forces Canada, Belinda Stronach has been described as Canada’s answer to Paris Hilton. This is unfair to Paris Hilton. Although both are blonde Billionaire heiresses, Paris Hilton is Einstein compared to Belinda Stronach. On the eve of a vote that would bring down the Liberal government, Belinda Stronach sells out the Conservative Party. The 38-year-old twice divorced “friend” of Clinton, without warning dumps her deputy Conservative leader boyfriend to jump to the Liberals. A seat in cabinet was the price The defeat of the Liberal Party, the PATRONS of Canada’s $500 million a year anti-smoking PARASITES lost by one vote in Canada’s Parliament-Belinda Stronach’s vote. Frau Stronach, before stabbing the Conservatives in the back, won election as a Conservative Party candidate from Newmarket, Ontario, where Daddy runs the multi-billion dollar Magna auto parts empire. This is the first time in history where a rat has jumped onto a sinking ship. But enough about the finest woman to ever walk the streets of Newmarket, Ontario. Dateline - Halifax, Nova Scotia
Both the Grope and Flail and the Halifax Herald reported the Hamm government changed its mind. Now it plans to impose a province-wide smoking ban in Nova Scotia. There will be no compensation for hospitality owners who just spent thousands on DSR’s. The phony pretext was supplied by PARASITE Maureen Summers, executive director of the Canadian Cancer Society-Nova Scotia Division, who told the Halifax Herald:” We know 400 Nova Scotia’s lose their lives every year because of second-hand smoke.” WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE FOR THIS BLOOD-LIBEL, MAUREEN? Nova Scotia Indians, like Indian tribes in Manitoba, Saskatchwean and New Brunswick are refusing to participate. Chief Lawrence Paul of the Millbrook First Nation told the Halifax Herald:” It doesn’t apply to our turf because we’re federal.” Dateline - London, Ontario
Dateline - Kingston, Ontario
The pretext for this idiocy was supplied by Cynthia Beach who is obviously moonlighting from her other job-The President of Mensa. Miss Beach who is also commissioner of planning and development told the Whig-Standard:” the carcinogenic properties of second-hand smoke do not change simply because the source is moved outdoors.” A real giant in the field of Toxicology who got her facts straight. Dateline - Toronto, Ontario
Although earnings were flat, sales at Rothmans increased this quarter to $144.2 million from $136.5 million the year before. I guess its safe to conclude that not everybody in Canada is quitting smoking. In other news from the Big Lemon, the Toronto Red Star reported that the propaganda department of the Dolton Gang put out a riding by riding study that claims to calculate the number of” smoking related deaths” in Ontario. The Dolton Gang admitted this was done to increase support for the proposed smoking ban. Where did the Dolton Gang get its numbers? According to the Red Star:” The numbers in the study were calculated using a computer model.” Even the Red Star pointed out that the ridings with the most deaths by a massive co-incidence were the ridings with the most old people. These smoking related deaths claimed by the Dolton Gang have a lot of relatives. Dolton’s Gang claims 6,720”tobacco related cancer deaths”. There are 40 documented causes of lung cancer and tobacco has never been etiologically proven as a cause. The claim is based solely on statistical association.5, 830 “tobacco related” deaths from cardiovascular disease. This only has 300 documented causes.2,930 deaths from respiratory disease. This has literally thousands of causes. This is the intellectual honesty from a bunch liars at the Ontario Liberal Party. People in their late 70s dying of multi-casual disease, and having a computer generated model use tobacco as a scapegoat. Finally from Toronto, the Red Star’s Richard Gwynne wrote an interesting column last week. Contrary to popular mythology the massively overwhelming political party of choice for Canada’s plutocracy, and wealthy (income over $100,000 a year) is not the Conservatives but the Liberals. Support for the Liberal Party is down to 22% from the poor (under $20,000). The Fraser Institute called Canada’s war on smokers: ”Rich Canada’s war on the poor.” Dateline - Thunder Bay, Ontario
Thunder Bay’s The Source had an on-line poll asking readers if they agreed that smokers should stop donating money to the Lung Association and the Cancer Society. The results were: 51.4 % in favor of the boycott.48.9 % opposed.659 votes were cast. Dateline - Grand Beach, Manitoba
The 25,000 square foot complex will have 300 slot machines, 12 gaming tables, a 116 seat restaurant, a cabaret, and a lounge area, a gift shop, and parking for 400 cars. Free shuttle bus service is planned from Winnipeg. Chief Tina Leveque, of the Brokenhead Ojibway First Nation told the Winnipeg Sun:” We didn’t create the provincial laws, it just happens we are going to benefit by it.” Indian land is exempt from Manitoba’s smoking ban. Dateline - Winnipeg, Manitoba
John Luick, National Post, February 2005. And in the category of best actor for his portrayal of a complete charlatan and compulsive liar-the winner is…Stanton Glantz. One of the world’s most nauseating anti-smoking PARASITES, Stanton Glantz was in Loserpeg last week spreading propaganda. The celebrated “Doctor (allegedly a PHD in Mechanical Engineering) Glantz, a professor of medicine of medicine at the University of California” (Winnipeg Free Press) was the guest speaker at the first-and hopefully last, if the Conservatives win the next election-Black Lung Awards given to actors who smoke on screen. The Manitoba Medical association and a local Hitler Youth group organized this idiocy, paid for by the Liberal Party of Canada. It’s a very strange group of winners. Al Pacino received an award for Scarface. But Scarface was made in the 1980s.Glenn Close as Cruella de Ville (101 Dalmatians) also made about 15 years ago. 11 year old Dakota Fanning who although didn’t smoke, was not being bothered by people smoking around her. A cartoon character from the Incredibles also made the list. Other winners include: Jude Law in Alfie. Other than the Hitler Youth who compiled the list, maybe 3 people saw this bomb, Amanda Peete in A Lot Like Love-another bomb maybe 3 people saw. Johnny Depp in Finding Neverland, and Rene Zellweger in Bridget Jones Diary were not exactly blockbusters. Glantz’s real purpose in Loserpeg was to lobby for the elimination of smoking in movies. In other tobacco news from Loserpeg, Canadian Press reported that a second hotel in Manitoba has closed its doors because of the smoking ban. The Wawanesa Hotel closed its doors after its owner; Bill Klisby couldn’t find a buyer. The Sandy Bar Hotel in Riverton earlier shut down for the same reason. A hospitality spokesman told C.P. ”This is the tip of the iceburg.” Neither of Loserpeg’s two daily newspapers considered the C.P. story newsworthy. Canada.com reported that that Manitoba’s NDP government snuck in a law that threatens restaurants and bars with their license to sell tobacco if they allow smoking on their premises. Likewise, neither of Loserpeg’s daily newspapers considered this newsworthy. Finally from Loserpeg, the Winnipeg Free Press reported that 18 people were charged with smoking at a Green Day concert at the arena. As someone who beat the rap in Loserpeg I have a suggestion: Plead not guilty. Not only will this clog the courts, especially if you keep asking for extensions, but most of the time the smoke police don’t show up in court to testify, and even if they do-its your word against theirs. Without corroborating evidence –case dismissed. Dateline - Calgary, Alberta
Bill Bruce, Calgary’s smoke police chief told the Calgary Sun: “We consider it part of the performance-Keith Richards smoking is no different than when Theatre Calgary uses a lit pipe as a prop on stage. If he wants to smoke, fair enough.” The great unwashed on the other hand are S.O.L. The Rolling Stones always sang” You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” The Stones always get what they want. It’s the fans that are having their 19th Nervous Breakdown. Last week in Forces there was the call from Audrey Silk for a boycott of donations to anti-smoking groups like the Cancer Society and the Lung Association. Audrey’s call even made it to a couple of Canadian newspapers like the National Post and the Winnipeg Free Press. It was the topic of an Internet bulletin board discussion in the Thunder Bay Source. Audrey is a retired NYC police officer who was on duty September 11. Audrey has been a very telegenic and articulate spokesperson for smokers’ rights appearing on CBS, CNN and Jon Stewart’s Daily Show. Forces Canada has long advocated Canadian smokers not give money or participate in any fund raising activities for PARASITES like the Cancer Society or the Lung Association. Forces Canada has long proposed voting against the Liberal Party of Canada as the chief financial patron of these PARASITES. Dateline - St John’s, Newfoundland
The $541 million hospitality industry is by far Newfoundland’s largest employer responsible for 14,200 jobs in the perennially have not province. Dateline - Montreal, Quebec
The anti-smoking PARASITES have used this as a pretext to get the government to ban light and mild cigarettes. One of the anti-smoking clowns told Canadian Press:
Really? Where to begin? The first law of toxicology is: ” the dose makes the poison.” There is no question that light cigarettes contain significantly less tar. The second point worth noting is that Light cigarettes were hardly a nefarious plot by the tobacco companies. The Liberal government in the early 70s, MANDATED light and mild cigarettes. The other story out of Montreal involves Arab reaction to the proposed smoking ban in Quebec.Canada.com reports that many Arab restaurants in Montreal will close if the smoking ban includes Shisha (a communal water pipe). Dateline - Windsor, Ontario
Given this you might think there would be some kind of reaction from say City Council. Instead one city councilor told the Windsor Star:
History is filled with movements that were thought to be a progressive inevitability. In the 20th century Eugenics, Nazism, and Marxism were all hailed as the great unstoppable progression that all had the requisite “scientific” veneer for the normalization of barbarity. Anti-smoking, first started by the Nazis, is sure to follow the others into the well-deserved dustbin of history. Dateline - Simcoe, Ontario
It’s a great idea cooked up by Ivory Tower day dreamers, justifying their $500 million a year from the Liberal Party of Canada. There is only one problem-there is no market for asparagus. Canned asparagus comes from South America. Canadian producers can’t compete on price. And the market for fresh asparagus is glutted. Other than that, it was a great idea. Dateline - Montreal, Quebec
The congenital liars at the Quebec Liberal Party told CBC that this was a health measure. Yeah, right. Only the morons at CBC would accept this lie at face value. Health Minister Phillipe Coulliard also told CBC in response to the fears of bar owners facing bankruptcy: ”There have been many studies that show the impact on these types of businesses is usually transient.” You can see in the following datelines from Uxbridge, Ontario, Thunder Bay, Ontario just how “transient” the effects of smoking bans really are. Vive le Quebec. Vive le Quebec libre. Dateline - Uxbridge, Ontario
It doesn’t sound very transient. Israelstam also stated that many bars in Uxbridge have closed since the smoking ban. Durhamregion.com also quoted Karen Bodirsky of the Fair Air Association of Canada (FAAC) as detailing the losses suffered by other Ontario community’s loss in bar sales after a smoking ban was imposed:
Dateline - Thunder Bay, Ontario
Needless to say, the smoking ban has impacted the private hospitality industry as well. Mary Long-Irwin, the president of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce told the Chronicle-Journal:” Its been a hell of a winter for them.”Mrs.Irwin claimed that bars have suffered a 50% decline in business. Four bars have closed for good. It sure doesn’t sound “transient”. Last week Forces Canada ran the story, reported by Thomas Laprade of a swimming club in Thunder Bay that pulled the plug on its participation in a charity bingo because no one showed up because of the smoking ban. The local media had ignored the story. The story is now in the public domain because of the efforts of Canada’s greatest hero, Thomas Laprade. Thomas had a letter published in the Chronicle-Journal detailing what went on with the swim club. Thomas’s daughter and two granddaughters were members of the swim club. After the story became public Thunder Bay city council immediately offered to reduce its take of the charity bingo from 3% to 1.5%. Big deal.1.5% of nothing is nothing. Dateline - Winnipeg, Manitoba
Dateline - Edmonton, Alberta
The bar is already closed Monday and Tuesday nights and 35% of the staff are already laid off.

CBC is reporting that the cheap cigarettes is costing the Quebec government about $50 million. Watching the Gomery Inquiry we have a pretty good idea where the $50 million would have ended up-into the kleptocracy that is the Quebec Liberal Party. Dateline - Toronto, Ontario
A group called” Citizens For Civil Liberties” put out a press release denouncing Dolton’s show trial, on behalf of Ontario’s 1.8 million smokers. This is more than voted in the Martin Liberals in Ontario and more than voted in the prize packages from the Dolton Gang. Some highlights:
“You can prove anything with statistics.14% of people know that.” Homer Simpson. In what is surly the most joyless union since the Molov-Ribbentrop Pact (The non-aggression Hitler-Stalin Treaty that ushered in WW II) the Grope and Flail reported on yet another Statistics Canada study of Canadian smokers. Yawwwnnn. According to Statistics Canada 27% of men and 22% of women still smoke in Canada. Needless to say this is more than vote Liberal in Federal elections. The only real surprise in the Stats Canada study is the admission that smoking bans do not make people quit smoking:
The best Statistics Canada could come up with to justify the barbarity of its patrons, the Liberal Party of Canada, was both actions led to” minor reductions” in the amount smoked. I have three words for this. Two of them are: BIG DEAL! If smoking bans are not responsible for people quitting, what is? According to Statistics Canada good old fashioned fear mongering, or as Stats Canada calls it: ”Medical shock.” being told you have a heart condition or diabetes in men and scare mongering to pregnant women. In a related story, the Winnipeg Free Press quoted a study by the British journal The Lancet that former smokers who gain weight after quitting smoking negate all the health benefits from quitting. Over 90% of former smokers gain over 10 pounds after quitting. In other news, the National Post reported that Dolton’s economic girlie man, Smitherman plans to ban the public display of tobacco in stores in 2008. The Toronto Red Star reported that Smitherman plans to order that all licensed in home day cares ban smoking in private homes. The millions the Federal Liberals gave Ontario for daycare (vote buying) will now undoubtedly go to Dolton’s new smoke police force. Dateline - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Voice of the People.
Drinking easily has greater costs to society than smoking. Smokers are apparently a danger to themselves and anyone they touch; yet how often do cigarettes cause bar fights, wife beatings, unwanted pregnancies, absenteeism, birth defects, projectile vomiting, child neglect, adultery, or traffic fatalities? Smokers are characterized as degenerates while the media sells us the glamour of wine tasting, microbreweries and cocktail culture. The law prevents tobacco companies from sponsoring events as innocuous as fashion shows but allows breweries to sponsor Grand Prix auto races. Is a clothing designer with a cigarette really a greater public threat than a beer drinker driving a Ferrari? Does Health Canada have an Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy? If the government bans “mild” cigarettes will they also ban “light”beer? Why don’t the provinces sue the distilleries for the extra policing costs caused by their products over the years? WHY ARE THERE NO GRAPHIC PICTURES OF BATTERED WOMEN ON MY BOTTLE OF GIN? If health fascists and social engineers are genuinely concerned with saving the public from their own vices they should have the courage to take on Big Liquor with the same zeal they use on Big Tobacco. If you are honest about making bars and bowling alleys safer get your priorities straight. Don’t try taking away ashtrays; try taking away booze.” (Editors note. Canada is something between a plutocracy and a kleptocracy - rule by the rich and rule by the thieves. Drinking is popular with the middle and upper classes in Canada. Smoking is mainly restricted to the working class.) Dateline - Edmonton, Alberta
Even the PARASITES admit, ”Its true chew doesn’t cause lung cancer. But …it can cause…” blah, blah, blah, an endless list of multi-causal diseases that may or may not afflict these kids in about 60 years. Maybe. Dateline - Edmonton, Alberta. Voice of the People
“There is currently a policy established by Public Works Government Services Canada that prohibits smoking within 9 meters or the property line (which ever is closest) to air intake ducts and public doorways for Canada Place in Edmonton. This building houses mostly Federal Government offices and is leased entirely by the Federal Government. However, after reviewing the policy, I found several contradiction, the policy was being enforced inappropriately… I have tried contacting numerous representatives from PWGSC, without being able to obtain an answer from them…I am currently awaiting a response from the Minister of Public Works regarding the issue. As the building manager told me when supposedly addressing my concerns:” if you don’t like it, quit smoking.” “ (Editors note: I suggested the correspondent contact the constituency office of “Dreamboat Annie”, Edmonton’s very own beloved Deputy Prime Minister. The Rt.Hon. Anne McLellan.Dreamboat Annie regularly wins elections by about 100 votes. I’m sure there are more than 100 smokers in that building affected by Liberal highhandedness.) This special forces Canada edition will be exclusively devoted to Ontario stories. The majority will be about Dolton’s show trial, but there is lots of other tobacco news to report. Next week Forces Canada will return with stories from other parts of Canada including Montreal and Edmonton, as well as late breaking Ontario news.
The Grand Forks (North Dakota) Herald, Jan.21, 2003:
Excerpts from a posting on Free Dominion, an Ontario based website. Dateline - Tillsonberg, Ontario
The most interesting comment was from Anne Vankerrehock, president of the Delhi Belgium Club who told the London Free Press:
Dateline - Windsor, Ontario
Given Windsor’s proximity to Detroit, its casino, racetrack, bingos and bars will be the most devastated by the antics of the Dolton Gang. Windsor is heavily reliant on American tourists, mainly from Michigan. According to surveys, 80% of Windsor’s clientele are Americans. 40% of American tourists are smokers. The Star reports that Detroit’s three casinos are “jumping with joy” at the prospect that smoking will be banned in Windsor. Windsor city councilor told The Star:” Its totally ludicrous given the fact this is going to impact Windsor the most, by far.” Dateline - Sarnia, Ontario
The Observer reported that if Falby and Forget lose their challenge they will be on the hook for $15,000. But both told the Observer they felt somebody had to challenge the law. Our prayers are with these brave guys. Dateline - Orillia, Ontario

According to the press release 70% of the patrons of charity bingos are smokers. Charities that benefit include: CNIB, March of Dimes, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Foundation, Lung Association, Rotary, Kinsmen, Knights of Columbus, and hundreds of churches and food banks. 1.2 million children in Ontario are also affected. Big Brothers, Boys and Girls Clubs, Kiwanis and Variety all get their funding from charity bingos. Dateline - White River, Ontario

The story as of this writing has not shown up in the local Thunder Bay media. Forces Canada has started a special “Voice of the People” dateline. The situation with very few exceptions in Canada is: the newspapers refuse to print our letters, talk radio won’t put us on the air, and politicians ignore us. The Voice of the People is a forum that allows ordinary Canadians to tell their stories to each other. As I’ve previously said: as Canadians we are divided from one another by language, geography, and sexual gender. One thing comes through loud and clear in the Voice of the People, in this special Forces Canada Voice of the People issue, from an extremely brave French Quebec writing a statement to his fellow Canadian smokers in magnificent English. It’s a fabulous resonating statement from Quebec City. Similar statements have previously been expressed from: Nova Scotia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta. What unites us as Canadians is a need for outrage. A very un-Canadian like: ”I’M AS MAD AS HELL. AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE.” One group conspicuous by its absence has been-there is no nice way to say this — is ALL THOSE DINGY BROADS FROM ONTARIO THAT VOTE IN THE LIBERALS, election after election — for the past 12 years. Why!?! TO THOSE DINGY BROADS IN ONTARIO: I Want to hear from you. I sincerely hope that in the forthcoming Federal election: YOU MAKE PAUL MARTIN and DOLTON MCGUINTY’S LIFE AS MISERABLE AS THEY MADE YOURS!!! Stephen Harper and Mike Harris are not and were not nor will ever be the Montana Militia. Are you as smokers, as women as Canadians BETTER OFF NOW THAN YOU WERE 12 YEARS AGO? Think back 12 years ago, before the Chretien /Martin Liberals, before Bob Rae, David Peterson and Dolton McGuinty and his endless procession of Every Woman’s First Husband. Are you better off now than you were 12 years ago. To The Dingy Broads of Ontario: Its not Quebec or Alberta that is breaking up this country its you. YOU ARE THE ONES KEEPING THE LIBERALS IN POWER! Its not Quebec and Alberta that are ripping this country apart. Its YOU BABE — the ROC (Rest of Canada) wants a divorce, WE AS SMOKERS AND AS CANADIANS HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!! Karen Bodirsky of the Fair Air Association of Canada (FAAC)”Smoking ban stubs out workers rights” in the National Post last Friday. Karen also mentioned that she would be appearing on Studio 2 on TVO against noted PARASITE Michael Perley of something called OCAT. Uber PARASITE Gar Mahoodlum of the Non-smokers Rights Association refused a chance to debate her. Check local listings for Must See TV. There will be more on Gar Mahoodlum later in this dateline. The favorite mantra of Ontario’s anti-smoking PARASITES testifying before Dolton’s show trial is that all claims about business and job losses associated with smoking bans is that it’s all a plot by Big Tobacco. Nancy Daigneault of www.mychoice.ca put out a press release last week. Included in the press release was a study obtained through the Freedom of Information Act prepared by Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade on the economic consequences a smoking ban would have in Ontario. The results of the Ontario government’s own study? Pretty much what Fair Air, PUBCO and My Choice have been saying. Here is an excerpt from the Dolton Gang’s very own study:
Some other highlights of the Ontario government study include:
This is from a December 12,2004 study by Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade and not propaganda from Big Tobacco. Over the past few years I’ve been asked many times how we in Canada can stop the endless war on smokers. I’ve always answered:” More people smoke in Ontario than vote Liberal in federal elections.” Getting rid of the Liberals means getting rid of Canada’s $500 million a year PARASITE INDUSTRY-the Patrons of the PARASITES. One of the most obnoxious PARASITES has been Gar Mahoodlum of the Non-Smokers Rights Association. For those in Ontario here’s a sample of what you get for your $500 million a year for voting Liberal. Gar Mahoodlum-the self-anointed protector of Canada’s Children recently told Canadian Press:
What is Gar playing Joan of Arc over THIS TIME? Smoking bans? No. Something called ”Power Walls.” The display of tobacco products. The Tobacco Lobby is in fact Ontario convenience store owners. Talk about symmetry. Even Dolton’s economic girlie-man Health Minister George Smitherman criticized Gar’s bizarre claims in the Toronto Red Star. The feel good story of the day in Toronto comes from the Grope and Flail. Support for the federal Liberal Party has declined by 10 in the greater Toronto area in the most recent poll according to the Grope and Flail. Dateline - St. Thomas, Ontario

The Star-Phoenix also reported that of the 4 charity bingos that remain in Saskatoon (three have closed because of the smoking ban, including Confederation) business has declined to $20-22 million from $32 million before the smoking ban. Also from Saskatoon, CBC reported last week that attendance at Nutana branch of the Royal Canadian Legion has” taken a nose dive” since the smoking ban was imposed. Gerry Tait, the president of the Nutana Legion told CBC that some nights there is not a single customer in the Legion. Tait said even non-smokers refuse to attend because they can’t be with their smoking buddies. The Legion, needless to say, is running a huge deficit that threatens its very survival. The PARASITES at the Canadian Cancer Society are undoubtedly shaken if not stirred by comments from Health Minister Bond. Shirley Bond. < Back To "I read the news..." > |
