The genesis of lung cancer, and cancer in general, is neither proven nor fully understood. A vast debate still exists on this issue -- and still there is no cure. It follows that it is impossible to conclusively attribute a cause on something whose genesis is unknown. All "attributions" to smoking and cancer are speculative and circumstantial - not proven causality.
