There is no proof that primary smoking (thus passive smoking) causes heart disease. In fact to date, none of the many studies on smoking and heart disease has ever been able to establish causality. Heart disease is a multifactorial disease with over 300 concomitant factors.

Incidentally, no U.S. surgeon general's report has ever endorsed the notion that ETS causes heart disease in non-smokers.
