SOME THOUGHTS ON "NANNYISM" ...
AND HOW OUR SUPPOSED FRIENDS IN THE MEDIA BETRAY US
My fellow smokers are pitifully eager to pass around any piece of dreck
from the professional media establishment that has the slightest appearance of
being sympathetic to our cause, and lauding it as a triumph for our point of
view. They are especially fond of those opinion pieces which limply accuse
the anti-smokers of being paternalistic, or "nannies."
Anti-smokers are not "nannies." Their actions, from EPA corruption, to
fraudulent smoking cost "studies" and malicious lawsuits, to the systematic
libel of smokers as "addicts," have shown that they are ruthless, psychopathic
criminals.
Our pretended defenders in the media have enabled the anti-smokers to
take over by reflexively pulling their punches, and hitting them only with
trifling accusations such as "nannyism," while refusing to charge them with
the crimes of which they are guilty.
"Nannyism" is not a violation of federal laws. But corrupting the EPA
with illegal pass-through contracts to a hand-picked crony (who wrote the
crucial chapters of the ETS report), IS a serious violation. It can and
should be prosecuted.
It justly impeaches the credibility of this report that those infamous
confidence intervals were fudged, and important evidence ignored, under this
compromised circumstance.
But our phony advocates refuse to speak of Robert Axelrad's admission of
guilt to the EPA Inspector General, and name his stooge, Kenneth G. Brown, and
to pointedly condemn the media's coverup.
They timidly flinch from openly rejecting the EPA report. They are
afraid to say, point blank, that "IT IS CORRUPT." And, rather than hold our
rightful moral high ground, they abandon it without a fight, and try to shift
the battle to the marshland of "what about air pollution" or some such,
instead.
This is how they actually LET the anti-smokers win.
Likewise, these cowards parrot the anti-smoker-approved spin on smoking
costs that "smokers' early deaths saves money," and we're supposed to cheer
this abject self-denigration as a great breakthrough of the truth. Why don't
they tout the costs of non-smokers' Alzheimer's disease, instead?
They don't have the guts to, or to press on and make the point that the
smoking cost lawsuits are fraudulent, and thus their purpose is not "recovery"
of smoking costs at all, but extortion and fraud, under color of law.
The federal civil rights laws in this country are supposed to apply not
just to small-fry beat cops who beat up a suspect, but to white collar big
shots who abuse their official powers, such as those attorneys general, as
well. But our traitorous "defenders" refuse to stand up for our civil rights.
The media are filled with smokers who are self-hating losers with
inferiority complexes, who blindly believe that anti-smokers tell the truth,
and anyone who contradicts them must be paid off by the tobacco industry to
lie. They "defend" us by unconditionally surrendering on all points, and
bleating, "If smoking is so dangerous, then why don't they ban it?"
Our question to them should be, why don't you challenge them? And why do
you ignore everything we send you?
Their tripe fills the editorial pages because the anti-smokers know it's
harmless to them, and useless to us. They are only enabling the media to
deceive the public with a superficial, sham pretense of allowing criticism
and discussion.
Smokers must stop being so naive as to applaud this junk. And above all,
smokers must learn some self-respect, and stop being so desperate for any tiny
crumb of sympathy.
Those who let the anti-smokers frame the issues are the anti-smokers'
hand servants. Those who deny the anti-smokers' crimes are no more our
friends, than Holocaust deniers are friends of the Jews. We must demand of
those who purport to be our friends that they speak out boldly on OUR talking
points, not let our enemies set the terms of the debate.
