WENDY McELROY

Canadian author and journalist Wendy McElroy is a leading critic of the increasingly influential "gender feminism" (based on the idea that the relationship between the sexes is a sort of class warfare) and a vocal proponent of individualist feminism, where "the individual rights of women [are] fully acknowledged under laws that identically protect  [ ]ed the person and property of men and women." She has worked tirelessly to help elucidate the differences between the two often-confused but distinct traditions of feminist thought, most recently through the www.ifeminists.com, as a regular columnist for Foxnews.com and through media appearances and lectures.

Her books include XXX: A Woman's Right to Pornography (1995) which was a finalist for the Mencken Awards, Sexual Correctness: The Gender-Feminist Attack on Women (1996), Queen Silver: The Godless Girl (2000) and Individualist Feminism of the Nineteenth Century (2001). A new anthology edited by McElroy, Liberty for Women, is being published this spring by Ivan R. Dee, a division of Rowman & Littlefield. In addition, she is presently a contributing editor to Ideas on Liberty (formerly The Freeman), The New Libertarian, Free Inquiry, and Liberty magazines. She has written for numerous other periodicals, including National Review and Penthouse.
