Ocean Springs aldermen took no action this week on a request for an anti-smoking ordinance.
The Mississippi Press reports that Kellie Lamb, the health promotions coordinator for Mississippi Tobacco Free Coalition for Jackson County, told aldermen that being smoke-free means smoking would not be allowed in public places.
The bribe is that Ocean Springs would receive a $5,000 grant from Mississippi Tobacco Free Coalition. $5,000 is a pithy amount when business is down by 30% and mom and pop stores close.
