Welcome to the FORCES site!
Forces was founded before the majority of households had personal computers. Now we have smart phones, ipads and high speed Internet service to the majority of people in the United States and Europe. We have 24/7 - news cycles, Facebook, Twitter and Google, we have truly entered the information age. Thus we have decided to de-emphasize our focus on serving as a news feed while still working to bring about a new age of peaceful coexistence of smokers and nonsmokers.
There are now a good number of high quality and dependable newsletters, email lists, and blogs that produce new, reliable, and thought-provoking material on daily and weekly bases. Our News Page will largely serve to direct FORCES visitors to those resources while still featuring contributions from our own core group of writers. You can also continue to join us on Forces Tavern or Facebook.
FORCES will be concentrating our efforts to the Free Choice 2020s: a decade in which ventilation, air filtration and tolerance will largely take the place of today's more unreasonable prohibitions
Loadedmovies.com It's now 2013, and over the next seven years we will lay the groundwork for that new decade and help move the world to a place where the rights of all people, smokers and nonsmokers alike, are considered and respected.
We still need your help and support to continue to keep the website open to all, with updates on the latest anti-smoking research. The anti-smoking establishment has a great deal of money to continue to spread their misinformation campaign and while all of us are volunteers we still need your donations. Please be generous and donate now, your donations are tax deductible.
Royal College of Physicians England

Smokers should be encouraged to use e-cigarettes as they are much safer than smoking tobacco, the Royal College of Physicians has recommended.
A report by its Tobacco Advisory Group has concluded that e-cigarettes are likely to benefit public health in the UK, and that smokers can be reassured about using them.
3rd May 2016
Public health officials in the United States generally regard e-cigarettes as a new pathway to addiction, unlike those in Great Britain, who look at them as a safer way to feed a nicotine habit or to stop smoking tobacco entirely.
Now, seven top tobacco control experts from around the world are cautioning the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to keep an open mind on the topic.
"We believe that the discussion to date has been slanted against e-cigarettes, which is unfortunate, because the big picture tells us that these products appear to be used mostly by people who aready are or who are likely to become cigarette smokers," said David T. Levy, PhD, a professor in the department of oncology at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in Washington, D.C.
Will the FDA pay attention, we hope so.

Taking a stance sharply at odds with most American public health officials, a major British medical organization urged smokers to switch to electronic cigarettes, saying they are the best hope in generations for people addicted to tobacco cigarettes to quit.
The recommendation, laid out in a report published Thursday by the Royal College of Physicians, summarizes the growing body of science on e-cigarettes and finds that their benefits far outweigh the potential harms. It concludes resoundingly that, at least so far, the devices are helping people more than harming them, and that the worries about them — including that using them will lead young people to eventually start smoking traditional cigarettes — have not come to pass.
Congress supporting e-cigarettes
28th April 2016
The 2017 Agriculture Appropriations Bill may not seem like a stirring piece of legislation to most, but it raised quite a few eyebrows last week as it passed through a House subcommittee with a key amendment—one that aims to spare the vast majority of electronic cigarettes from impending federal regulations.
The bipartisan effort to protect the burgeoning e-cig market is just the latest in a long-smoldering debate reignited by the Food and Drug Administration’s plans this year to begin regulating the new devices as it does traditional tobacco products.
Portland university formaldehyde scandal update
23rd April 2016
By Dr Farsalinos, E-cigarette Blog
The formaldehyde study scandal conducted by researchers from Portland university is progressing, with the authors unwilling to admit their methodological and presentation mistakes, while they continue their effort to misinform the public and consider our case for retraction as an attempt to help the industry or to get money from the industry. First of all, the only one who got money was the Portland University. They created a problem and they were awarded millions to “solve” it. Let me clarify in brief that the retraction was based on:
1. Assessing the risk of developing cancer from exposure to a chemical which they did NOT find in the study. All the analysis was based on formaldehyde exposure, while they only found formaldehyde hemiacetals. Formaldehyde hemiacetals are not classified as carcinogenic or toxic, thus their whole analysis is invalid.
2. They intentionally manipulated statistics by displaying in the same graph mean ± standard deviation values for formaldehyde in tobacco cigarettes and mean ± standard error of mean for formaldehyde hemiacetals in e-cigarettes. They intentionally did this in order to hide the huge variability in their measurements (standard error of mean is much lower than standard deviation).
3. They continue to create confusion and misinform the public by discussing about formaldehyde exposure, while (I repeat) they DID NOT find any formaldehyde. Look for Previous Top Stories »»
