Austrian government MPs presented a bill on Wednesday which would continue to allow smoking in bars and restaurants, despite a huge groundswell of opposition. The bill, which would overturn a ban due to come into force on May 1st, was branded a "huge step backwards for public health" by the opposition.

Shanghai could ban smoking in Parks. According to the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Landscaping and City Appearance, the ban will first be piloted in a park that has yet to be designated. It added that the ban could eventually be implemented at all public parks in the city.
