A new study published in Australia indicates when a hefty cigarette tax is implemented smokers quit,&nbsp; Howeveat last just for a little while and then goes back up.<br />

Perhaps they stock up on cigarettes before the new tax, eventually they run out and are forced to purchase cigarettes at the new price.&nbsp; Bet they didn’t ask that question.<br type="_moz" />

Hospitals Are Now Suing

<p class="indent">The hospitals in Missouri, which were seeking more than $455 million in damages, claimed the industry&rsquo;s actions boosted spending for <font style="color:black; background-color:Red;"><font style="color:black; background-color:Red;"><font style="color:black; background-color:Red;">unreimbursed</font></font></font> and uncompensated tobacco-related health care.</p>
<p class="indent">The tobacco companies denied any responsibility for patient-care costs at the hospitals or any financial losses by the hospitals. A state-court jury in St. Louis sided with the cigarette makers.</p>

Is considering a campus wide smoking ban. While lead by one group of students another think it is unfair to smokers.<br />

Tobacco Free Kids

ACLU Steps Up

About time!&nbsp; Twenty states discriminate against smokers, thirty states do not and neither does the District of Columbia.&nbsp; Slowly the ACLU has been going state by state to end discrimination against any smoker, obese individual, those that drink alcohol, have high cholesterol levels, or ride motorcycles.<br />

Corporations do not own you or have rights to your body.&nbsp; We hope they are successful in all 50 states.<br />

<p>The Alexandria City Council on Tuesday passed an amended version of an expanded smoking ordinance that will prevent smoking at bars and gaming establishments in city limits, as well as within 25 feet of city property and athletic arenas and ballparks. The ordinance will go into effect in 90 days, or Jan. 2, 2012.<br />
