Effective and balanced compromise occurs between mutually respectful, reasonable, and civil parties.
An example would be the friendly and unstrained relations between smokers and non-smokers which existed worldwide for centuries. This is precisely what contemporary anti-smoking exists to destroy. The very idea of compromise with this fanatical movement is oxymoronic.
