Democrats’ drive to finance expanded SCHIP health care for children with new cigarette and tobacco taxes has reached the zeal of a revival campaign.
According to the Associated Press, they’re now seeking to convert more Republicans to the new political theology that financing healthcare for all children on the backs of twenty percent of the U.S. adult population who smoke is credible or sound public policy. Promoting the idea of fragmenting American society into minority taxation “Target Groups” and majority “Entitlement Beneficiaries” appears to be gaining momentum. This issue is proceeding at light speed to pass the new tobacco taxes once again after the president’s veto was upheld. Now is the time for every tobacco consumer to contact his Congressional representatives and express his opinions about the new taxes.
