The ex-president of Cyprus dies of lung cancer at age 74. And this article just can’t wait to point out that he was a chain smoker. But isn’t 72 the average age that males are expected to live? Indeed, he outlived by 2 years his life expectancy. Which only goes to prove for the thousandth time that smoking has nothing to do with dying – we all die eventually and there are many ways to die – smoking isn’t one of them.

A State holiday has been declared on Monday for his funeral and flags will fly at half mast – not too shabby for a chain smoker-eh?
