Predictably, Canadian physicians ‘are calling for a country-wide ban on smoking in all vehicles carrying children, including private cars, to protect young lungs from the dangers of second-hand smoke.’

New York wants to do it, so Canadian healthists figure it’s high time for them to hit this particular note. Notwithstanding the fact that health legislation is a provincial matter, they are calling for a nation-wide ban. They like to be efficient about things, after all, and the call for a national ban underscores their hysterical position that anything having to do with tobacco is a red-hot public health emergency.

Not surprisingly, several other resolutions passed by the docs at their recent conference seem aimed at increasing their strength as a collective political force. That’s how they see the future.
