The bankrupt and mismanaged state of New York is looking for a bailout. As always the cash, 62 million and counting, will come from the little people. With total disregard for the Seneca Nation’s sovereign status, Governor Patterson signed into law forced collection of state tax (stored) on cigarettes sold on reservations, this designed to enrich the state of New York by $62 million dollars or more. The Seneca Nation then won a judicial ruling (stored) against the order.
The judicial ruling will not be all that is needed. If the path of negotiation with Health Nazis is taken sovereignty and consumer freedom will become mere bargaining chips. The Indians have vowed to fight this usurpation of their freedoms. Once before, they burned tires, closing down a major highway. Burn those tires!
