Pastry, donated by area bakeries, has been banned in senior citizen centers throughout New York state. A number of the old folks are publicly protesting. Note also our story today on high school students protesting along the very same lines.
We are all infants always in the eyes of our Big Brother. Yes, the nanny state must protect 70+ year olds from their poor health habits. After all, senior citizens are not mature enough to decide what to put in their own mouths. Let’s face it, if it were not for the nanny state, these seniors would make poor decisions and never reach the age of 70+. This is what happens when "progressives," using the power of the government, decide they alone know what is best for you. One of the protestors says a mouthful: "Lack of respect is what it’s all about." The Health Reich marches on. Now seniors are denied a pleasure of life when Lord knows they have a limited time left for enjoyment.
