‘Sesame Street’: for Adults Only!

The famous US children’s TV program Sesame Street has released old episodes on DVD with a warning that they are unsuitable for viewing by children in the Health Reich era.

The children’s beloved Cookie Monster ate … real sugar-laden cookies and, in a parody of the Public Broadcasting series Masterpiece Theatre with longtime host Alistair Cooke, the same favorite became Alistair Cookie of Monsterpiece Theatre, in which guise the puppet actually smoked (and then ate) a pipe! Egad! Tuck the Hitler Youth in bed before screening this pornography! Even the politically correct New York Times clucks its tongue at the “Adults Only” warning for Sesame Street. Just try lighting up your pipe in the Times newsroom, however, if you suspect the paper’s management is less than ragingly insane itself.
