The Wegmans chain of stores will cease to sell tobacco products on February 10th.

As a public relations move, citing health, the Wegmans stores have announced they are dropping their tobacco line entirely. They state that the trade has been profitable. Perhaps anti-smokers will make up the difference, by flocking to Wegmans stores, just as they promised they would flock to barrooms after the smoking bans. Of course, they never did that, did they? At any rate we know of nobody who will miss the overtaxed cigarettes available from Wegmans, however, we’ll make a point of avoiding their outlets altogether from now on. We’re part of the public too you know.
